My 128mb RAM upgrade arrived today. · 9:09pm Jul 19th, 2017
Went straight into my oldest PC, and bumped the memory from a lowly 64mb to 160mb.
Now I can launch Google Chrome in less than ten minutes!
Now, the biggest problem is the 166mhz CPU bottlenecking literally everything. And maybe the buggy display driver that gave me a BSOD while I was trying to play a .mpeg clip.
Either way, it loads Fimfiction, so that’s certainly an improvement.
64+128=160?

All the slots were full, so I had to remove 2 of the 16mb sticks so that I could fit in the 128mb kit, which consisted of two sticks of 64mb.
So 64-32+128=160.

Oh... Okay. Too bad it wasn't two sticks of 32mb each.

The original 64mb was from four sticks of 16mb. The highest the system can support is 512mb using four 128mb sticks.
Though, that’s the official support. I’ve seen some 256mb sticks on Ebay...
Perhaps I could bump it to a gig?
cough cough I remember having a old win 3.1 that ran 2 meg of ram.
my pc I have now I am gunning 64 gig.

16 gigs here. I’ve been waiting for java to finish installing on my old PC for the past 1 1/2 hours.
Not that I really need it. I just want to watch it suffer when I open the Minecraft Launcher’s jarfile.

I am sitting hear trying to remember the old doss commands.
I am betting if I sat down with doss I may remember a few of them.
I don't know if java will even run with something that old. or should I say boot.

Java 5 installed, but Minecraft doesn’t exactly support it, so I’m seeing if Java 7 will install. The installer is labeled “i586”, so it should work with 5th-gen x86 processors like the Pentium-166 that the thing has.

java 7 should run but that old 166 is going to get hot with that much load be sure the fan is clean.

The fan’s clean, but Java 7 failed to install. I’m back on Java 5, so I’m probably not gonna be doing any Minecraft anytime soon.
Good to hear
