After her fall, Hollow Shades, the Lunar Guard and more nox pony facts(Head cannon)

Ok, Brony-Wan-Kenobi's Hunter's Catch (NSFW, avoid ifn you hate sex with your ponies [two great tastes that taste great together]) inspired me to write down my head canon instead of leaving it rattling around in my head with only the chance of me using it in the story being its hope for escape.

Yep, here we go again, me and my world building, be afraid, be very afraid.

So, considering Celestia's failure to acknowledge Luna's distress, her failure to notice what her little ponies were doing, and her quickness to dismiss her concerns were what led to Luna's fall, one would expect the Lunar Guard who supported her in her fight to be disbanded, and Hollow Shades to go undefended.

Thankfully nothing could be further from the truth, perhaps the fight knocked some sense into her. Officially the Lunar Guard were dissolved and sent home. While this did mean they were no longer being paid by the crown, this did not mean they were gone. Instead unofficially Celestia re-classified them as a militia or more correctly a city guard specifically in charge of protecting Hollow Shades with near complete Carte blanche in dealing with threats.

To further protect Hollow Shades, all records of the land claim that led to its forming were erased. This may sound odd, and in fact worried Luna when she returned, but this helped Celestia keep ponies out of the area. With no record of the town, ponies who hated the 'evil creatures of the night' were less likely to attack it. Also at that time, if one desired to develop land, whether for a farm, or into a town, one had to request the land from the crown. All land not within 68 (80 in base ten) furlongs of an established town (village, city, etc) was considered crown property. As such, Princess Celestia could decline to give any land within the Hollow Shades or its vicinity, instead offering alternative better or larger lands to those wishing to develop it.

By doing these two relatively simple things, she protected Hollow Shades, and allowed its residents to grow in peace. Also it allowed the Lunar Guard to maintain their readiness so they were ready to step up when Princess Luna returned.

Ok, we've come up with some new facts ie head canon about nox ponies (aka thestrals aka bat ponies).

As you may recall, nox ponies are a mutant offshoot of pegasi. A recessive gene causes the occasional pegasi to be born with leathery bat wings, slit pupiled eyes, and a prehensile tail, along with a nocturnal sleep pattern. Hated by the other tribes and even there own, often even by their own kin, they came together to form settlements of their own with Hollow Shades being the largest.

They also developed their own language, based on the pegasi language. While the individual languages of the three tribes merged into the language we call Equestrian, nox ponies in their isolation maintained the original pegasus language. While the language has changed significantly, something that shouldn't be a surprise considering the difference between modern Equestrian and old Equestrian, its continued its high pitched sounds somewhat reminiscent of bird calls.

Also this isolation has led to the nox pony gene becoming a dominant gene within the species. While originally it was quite possible and not uncommon for a pair of nox ponies to give birth to a pegasi, years of mating within each other has strengthened the gene such that not only are such births rare, its fairly common for the child of a nox pony and a pegasus to be a nox pony.
