"You're not a burden, my love" Simon comforted his partner, Prince Lucian. "You're all 7,634,420,069,142,002,387,487,862,912 stars in my sky, Luce. And I love how brightly you shine"

Simon's Exodus: Part 5 · 10:43pm Jun 18th, 2017

Part 5 of 7, this is the part where Simon finally meets a member of the audience... who happens to be someone very special. Someone he'd imagined he'd meet, but never imagined that it would be in the audience of his own play. Anyway... enjoy.

And so the play continued... Theodore, playing Dragonheart, lay next to Lana, playing Moonflower, and closed his eyes. He muttered an incantation under his breath, so as not to alert Duplicati what he was doing.

"Fair Dragonheart, whatever hast thou done?" Lune, playing Luminelle, asked, pretending to be upset while actually knowing exactly what he was trying to do: Dreamwalk. "Thou mustn't falleth under Shadestar's spell!"

Jacob Marx, playing Duplicati, laughed evilly as he saw Dragonheart fall asleep. The curtain fell and rose again, revealing a new scene: The dream scene. There were candles in chandeliers, which were designed to make it look like the candles were floating. There was a girl, Lana playing Moonflower again, but this time... she was standing up. This was within her dream, but it was as if she knew she was dreaming. A lucid dreamer and a Dreamwalker. I thought to myself. What two people could be more made for each other?

"Welcome, Dragonheart." Lana said. "That is your name, isn't it? Dragonheart? I heard your companion call you that. I am Moonflower, Princess of Feria."

"Of Feria? But that kingdom was lost!" Theodore exclaimed in surprise. "Or hidden in plane sight by that Shadestar. One Duplicati mention'ed to me, that only thou couldst breaketh his fell curse."

"You know that iambic pentameter isn't going to save us, don't you?" Lana said. "Only one thing can: An active imagination. That's why I'm the key: I'm a lucid dreamer. Well... there's another key person. A Dreamwalker. My senses tell me it's you... and they've never been wrong before." Moonflower turned her head away, as if she said something awkward.

"Believe me, I know a thing or two about senses... Mine drew me to you." Theodore explained. "I saw you sleeping and I just had to wake you up... but I don't see anything you could be having a nightmare about."

Finally, we're at the part where Dragonheart doesn't speak in iambic pentameter. I thought to myself. Wait... Is that who I think it is? I, not having any further part on stage, jumped off the stage and got a closer look. Red hair, blue eyes... silver crown concealed poorly by a ring of daisies... It IS her! I begun tuning out the dialogue of the play and noticed that the girl was staring at someone... her glance seemed to be fixed on my head... Is she... no... it's too good to be true. The Delebleux princess can't be staring at ME of all people... but I have to say something to her.

"Monsieur?" I heard a voice. It was like that of an angel, speaking the language of love... I knew it was just the French word for "Mister" but to me it sounded beautiful... especially in her voice. "Je m'apelle Eveline. Quel est ton nom?" She spoke again, telling me her name and asking for mine. I knew that she could understand English... after all, I can understand French... and why would she come to a play written in a language she didn't understand? So I decided to speak to her in English.

"My name is Simon." I told Eveline. "Your name is... beautiful. I've never heard another name like yours."

"Le nom de mon père est Simon." Eveline told me.

Great. I have the same name as her father. This is awkward... sort of. I thought to myself. I should have remembered... I'm pretty sure I was named after Simon Delebleux. "That's... very... interesting. My brother's one of the biggest underaged drinkers I know... I tasted a sip of your father's champagne. Truly liquid starlight... just like the legend foretold."

"La légende de la lumière des étoiles est plus ancienne que le champagne elle-même." Eveline told me, speaking much more fluent French than I could, but I could still understand what she was saying. "Beaucoup de gens ont cherché la recette pour l'immortalité ... et ils ont tous échoué ... sauf pour le père de mon père, Lucian Delebleux. J'ai goûté ce champagne ... et ce n'est pas exactement ce que j'appellerais pour les mineurs. C'est une boisson forte ... vous avez peut-être goûté une gorgée ... mais essayez la bouteille entière. C'est un miracle que votre frère soit toujours capable d'agir."

"It is a miracle Brother Dore can still act." I agreed with that last part that Eveline said. "Sometimes I wonder if that champagne really is the liquid of life, even thought it's not exactly deadly, too much of anything can be a bad thing."

"Oui." Eveline simply agreed. "Simon?"

"Yes, Princess?" I asked, hoping she had something to say.

"Viens-tu à mon gala de couronnement à la fin de l'été?" I couldn't believe my ears. The Princess of Starlight was asking me out... I mean... over... on a date? Sounds like a dream within a dream within a dream come true!

"I wouldn't miss it for anything." I responded, smiling.

Sorry you don't get to find out how the play ended. I'll write the whole thing out later. But in Part 6, it'll be Midsummer's Eve, about halfway between the day of the play and the end of the summer, when Eveline's coronation gala is. (If you don't understand French, just use Google Translate. That's what I did... yes, I'm not gonna lie... I only know a tiny bit of French... so I used Google Translate for most of Eveline's dialogue.)

I'm a little confused about what the French means, but I found it rather interesting.

Just use Google Translate like I did.

4575100 Let me get home first. Still at the hospital, waiting for my Grandmother to be released so my family and I can go home.

OK. I've seen my grandmother at the hospital... she was on her deathbed. Is that what you're going through? Cuz if it is, I know your pain.

4575294 Thankfully that's not the case. The family came to visit and while we were at dinner, she stopped responding and became clammy. Apparently it was a side effect of dehydtation that caused a blood vessel to expand after having some ice cream, which caused her blood to drain down away from her heart. She's fine now, but it was severe enough to warrant an ambulance.

And I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother.

It's been a couple years... our family has had the time to accept her death.

4575322 I guess that's okay then? I mean the fact that she's gone isn't that great, but that you've come to terms with it.

That's what I do with language I don't know. Nice part my friend. Write on
