Episode reviews: Uprooted/ Between Dark and Dawn/ A Trivial Pursuit

Okay, quick talk about three episodes. I know I haven't been doing these weekly but I am behind on mlp. Season 8 wasn't... as good as I would have hoped so I stopped keeping track each week. My bad. Season 9, from what I've seen, has picked up the slack. So there's some positive. I'm going to try and watch at least 2 or 3 episodes a day until I get caught up. Don't worry, I'll be ready for the

Episode Review: Father Knows Best/School Raze

    1: Father Knows Best

Well this is it folks. I have finally finished season 8.... I think it's my least favorite season. Not entirely bad, but just not as good as others. I'm surprised really. I never thought I'd see a day I'd like a season less then season 4 but here it is. So let's start off by going over the last two episodes of this season shall we?

New Chapter coming soon (The Greatest Treasure/Fate Pony)

Heyo everyone. It seems I've got my writing mojo back. Well now I've finally started the next chapter of TGT and my Fate pony fic. They should be done by the weekend if not tomorrow. I hope it'll be worth the wait.

    (Spoiler review) What Lies Beneath

Still need to catch up on season 8. Don't worry. I won't be out of the loop once season 9 ends. I plan on binging the show until then. So hopefully I'll get a review done a day. So let's start with this one.

{Shimmerverse} White-Tail Deer (or Deer for short) · 4:12pm May 30th, 2017

1: Farseer

The wisest of the Deer, Farseers lead their people with the general grace assigned to deer kind. They are masters of the arcane. Second to none other then the gods themselves, they are rivaled by only the strongest magic users of other nations. Their magic enhances their abilities, allowing them to counter and destroy enemies with ease, even larger and tougher ones. As well, Farseers are able to see into the stream of time, something few can achieve even amongst the gods. This allows them to know their enemies' plots and movements and plan accordingly. Many out of nowhere actions by the Deer have been attributed to the involvement of a Farseer.

2: Dryad

Deer who have given themselves to the heart of their forests become Dryads. Wielding powers more innately then regular druids, they can perform and use life energy more efficiently and with greater results then the druids of most races. They can summon creatures such as Timberwolves to do their bidding and guide the creatures of the realm to fight for the Deer cause. Their energy can also replenish the health of nearby units as they use the Realm of Life to heal their wounds.

3: Knights

Not to be mistaken for 'Knights' as found in Equestria, Deer Knights are simply the Heavy Infantry and special forces units of the Deer. Trained in every art of warfare, they are the masters of their terrain. Every Knight faction has different methods of doing their jobs as they are highly individualistic. Even with more durable armor and weapons, they can still move impressively fast and with deadly accuracy.

4: Scorpions

The silent and deadly assassin Deer, they are equipped with specialized suits that allow them to turn invisible to their enemies. Their suits are also designed with a specialized 'scorpion stinger' in the place of their tail and secret poison blades on their hooves. They are hit and run tacticians, poisoning their foes and waiting for them to die or weaken enough to make the killing blow.

5: Infantry

The common soldiers of the Deer cities, they are trained with the usual quick and deadly precision one would expect from the Deer. They will die valiantly to defend their homes no matter the foe and no matter the odds.

6: Timberwolf

Creatures of Magic and Nature, Timberwolves are wooden predators to be feared. They are just as cunning and swift as regular wolves but feel no pain. They can keep attacking even if they are severely damaged, fighting until the end. Even then, if there was sufficient Magic in them or there is a nearby Dryad, they can just keep coming back to attack again and again. Never stopping until they killed their prey.

7: Entertainer

Entertainers were deer born into the arts. They are excellent painters, musicians, and dancers. One wouldn't think that would make them exceptionally deadly, but they are. Many of them were later trained to fight on the outskirts of the army, using their natural acrobatics to weave in between enemies and cut holes in their lines and harass them. As well, they can use their skills as Musicians to use Music Magic to give benefits to their nearby allies.

8: Leshy

Only vaguely resembling their human kin, Leshy have since given up their humanity to live in harmony with nature. They are incredibly protective of their forest homes, to which many Deer have employed them to help fight and protect their realms. While some may appear 'scrawny' in some respects, it is misleading. They are in fact quite powerful as Nature gives them their strength. They love to use trickery in order to confuse their opponents before striking.

9: Ent

The forests of the world hold many oddities and secrets. One such oddity are the ents, living/giant trees. Ents are peaceful and slow to come to a decision by nature, but tip their 'hands' and they will strike without abandon. Their strength is magnificent, making them one of the strongest, if not the strongest, members of a Deer army. Their tough hide allows them to withstand many blows as well as continuing the fight even after losing limbs.

10: Giant Eagle

Trained to follow orders from birth, Giant Eagles play a two part role in Deer society. For the most part, they are used as messengers as their wings can allow them to fly great distances and at impressive speeds if they so wish. As well, their size and strength allows them to fend off many would be attackers in both the air and the ground. In combat, they are used to pick off opponents one by one or smash through groups and raking them with their claws and sharp beak.

11: Crossbow Cannon

Deer despise muskets and other such black powder weapons. The smell is disgusting, the smoke unbearable, and there is a chance of it burning some of their precious forest. Instead, they don't have many artillery units but Crossbow Cannons. They are quick to deploy and use Magic runes to propel a large number of arrows with each volley. They are much quicker to load then your standard cannon because of this.

12: Archers

While most other races use a combination of Crossbows and Muskets, Deer keep to the preferred long bow as it gives them accuracy and long range. Their archers are far sighted, using superior Deer perception as well as specialized gem goggles to help keep them focused on their targets. Their aim is efficiently deadly.

8: Great, you've weaponized trolling and/or hippies.
9: Someone's read LoTR. to isengard to isengard we're off to march on isengard
10: THE EAGLES ARE COMING
11: Hwacha? HWACHA?!:pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:
I bucking love hwachas
12: Oh, and targeting goggles are cool I guess but HWACHAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!

So basically a combination of eldars and Sylvan elves from Warhammer fantasy (except for the giant crossbow of the high elves), really neat concept for the Deers, all they need now is some analogy to the sword dancers :pinkiehappy:

The Deer Army sounds epic. Also are you going to talk about Grundles for the Races of the Shimmerverse? Or they not important enough to talk about like Sheep and Lambs?

4552972 I almost forgot about the Grundles. I might eventually get to them.

4553023 Thanks for the answer.
