Episode reviews: Uprooted/ Between Dark and Dawn/ A Trivial Pursuit

Okay, quick talk about three episodes. I know I haven't been doing these weekly but I am behind on mlp. Season 8 wasn't... as good as I would have hoped so I stopped keeping track each week. My bad. Season 9, from what I've seen, has picked up the slack. So there's some positive. I'm going to try and watch at least 2 or 3 episodes a day until I get caught up. Don't worry, I'll be ready for the

Episode Review: Father Knows Best/School Raze

    1: Father Knows Best

Well this is it folks. I have finally finished season 8.... I think it's my least favorite season. Not entirely bad, but just not as good as others. I'm surprised really. I never thought I'd see a day I'd like a season less then season 4 but here it is. So let's start off by going over the last two episodes of this season shall we?

New Chapter coming soon (The Greatest Treasure/Fate Pony)

Heyo everyone. It seems I've got my writing mojo back. Well now I've finally started the next chapter of TGT and my Fate pony fic. They should be done by the weekend if not tomorrow. I hope it'll be worth the wait.

    (Spoiler review) What Lies Beneath

Still need to catch up on season 8. Don't worry. I won't be out of the loop once season 9 ends. I plan on binging the show until then. So hopefully I'll get a review done a day. So let's start with this one.

{Shimmerverse} Griffon Units 1 · 5:13pm May 25th, 2017

1: Basic Infantry

The standard units of griffon armies, basic infantry are outfitted with standard weapons and armor befitting the griffon lineages. Basic Infantry work in large units and will focus on overwhelming and tearing to pieces any opposing force that stands in their way. With all griffons, they have a blood thirst that they will eagerly quench.

2: Winged Hussar

Riding atop the backs of Elasmotheriums, these highly decorated riders are used to run and smash their way into the flanks of enemy positions and into the enemy cavalry. Their beasts are outfitted with light armor as their natural hides are already pretty sturdy. The beasts may look heavy, but even with their weight, they can move at impressive speeds. The griffon riders are trained to fight atop these beasts with long lances and spears, stabbing at opponents as they rush past them. Those that aren't crushed by their mounts, that is.

3: Brutes

Griffons experimented upon by chaos warlocks, Brutes are giant hulks with nary a hint of any sapience left inside their skulls. They are thrice the size of a regular griffon, with some even bigger. They are dumb but pack more muscle to make up for that and can kill with one punch in the case of most individuals. Their super strength makes them ideal linebreakers for the griffon armies as well as how tough they are as they shrug off most blows, barely registering it in their small minds.

4: Musket Militia

Much more common in the army ranks of griffon armies then ponies, Musket Militia are as they sound. They are units specialized in the fielding of muskets on the battlefield. They wear light armor but nothing too heavy so they can quickly march to different locations. The problem with Musket Militia is that griffon muskets aren't as advanced as pony muskets. They tend to foul up quicker due to more primitive black powder and they aren't as accurate. Griffons get around this by employing very large units of musket militia so that the sheer amount of them will surely tear through their opponent's hides.

5: Chaos Sorcerer

Griffons are one of the few races outside ponies that use chaos magic. However, unlike ponies, their chaos sorcerers have much more free reign and tend to be stronger for it in some cases. Of course, this makes them a bit more liable to being possessed by chaos demons or the like, but Chaos Sorcerers of the griffon armies don't tend to worry about that. They are only focused on using their chaos magic to tear apart their enemies.

6: Helicopter

A recent invention by goblins, they have quickly found their homes in the griffon armies. Due to the close ties between the two species, griffons have enough workers and engineers to keep up with the demands. The primitive flying machines are wonky and loud, but they can be deadly with their abilities to fire volleys of rockets. Goblin engineers need to be inside to keep them going as with most goblin machines, they have a tendency of breaking down if not looked after.

7: Grenadiers

Crazed and a bit out of their minds, grenadiers have dozens upon dozens of fused grenades stuck to their bodies that they lob at enemies. To do this, they have been given by chaos sorcerers the ability to breathe fire so they can light their grenades and toss them about. However, sometimes they can accidentally set their still attached grenades alight and blow themselves up when they get too ecstatic. Though they sometimes do this deliberately as to take out a bunch of opponents with them.

8: Demi-Gods

Born of the four patron gods of war of the Griffon Empire, Demi-Gods are griffons with exceptional power and abilities. Said abilities differ from demi-god to demi-god, but all are not to be trifled with. Their strength can aid them in clearing away other units with ease.

9: Keythong

An offshoot of the griffon line, these creatures evolved into more ground dwelling and less sapient beings. While not as smart as their griffon counterparts, Keythong are still incredibly dangerous. Lined with spikes on their back and razer sharp beak and claws, they can easily run down and slice open any prey that their masters wish of them.

10: Cannoneers

In charge of the griffon cannons, cannoneers are trained to defend them to the last breath. They are armed with pistols and swords and are trained to do anything they can to save the cannons.

11: Goblins

Due to their alliance, goblins and griffons have treaties set up so that they can help protect each other. However, due to the larger griffon population, resources, and generally a large/aggressive species, griffons more often then not push goblins to serve them for their own needs. Whether this be as engineers, or as simple canon fodder for their armies. Goblin troops are given their own armor and weapons and put under the control of griffon overseers to aid Basic Infantry and other positions during wars.

12: Heavy Infantry

Armed with much deadlier weapons, thicker armor, and larger shields, Heavy Infantry are trained to smash apart the remaining enemy forces that the Basic Infantry weren't able to do or ordered to soften up for their approach. While slower because of their armor and shields, they are no less deadly as they are harder to take down then their Basic Infantry comrades.
