Another year in which the politics of fear, anger and division continued its onslaught on common decency and civilized behavior in political discourse, as well as its attack on the very foundations of democracy and the institutions that protect us all from charlatans, demagogues and the ugly, slippery slope that leads to fascism, and worse.
