Miss Koi Reviews "A Rock Solid Friendship" and "Fluttershy Leans In"

That's right, we got two for the price of one ladies and gents!:D

Haha get it?;) It's a joke;) I can be funny, right?;) Lol!

Anyway, remember how UK premiered the S6 finale early? Well, looks like Canada is joining in this game by premiering new episodes earlier than their US release, episodes like "A Rock Solid Friendship" on Saturday and then "Fluttershy Leans In" on SUnday. Apparently, this is going to keep on for the rest of May:D So, for now, if this continues, looks like I'm going to review two episodes together, post on Sunday or Monday, and have an obvious spoiler tag for the episode that gets released early:) Don't worry, I'll watch "Fluttershy Leans In" and all the other early released episodes on TV as well as online;) Sound good?

Before I go into my individual reviews of each, I'll let you know of my scores know:
1) I give "A Rock Solid Friendship" 9 hearts out of 10 <3
2) I give "Fluttershy Leans In" 10 hearts out of 10<3
Thus, making these two my top favorites of the season so far:D And I have a feeling, you guys have a good idea why if you know me pretty well by now;)

Now first, let's talk about rocks!:D

A "Rock Solid" Episode that is;) Here I go again, being funny;) As you can see, my love for this episode coming strictly out of my bias (but you guys didn't come for an unbiased review, you came for me and all the bias that comes with it;)): 1) it has Maud, 2) it has Maud and Pinkie sisterly love goodness, and 3) it has humor. Any episode that has one or two of these requirements is always a win in my book, but all three just makes me an excited and giddy Pinkie Pie:3 Like in this episode;)

Oh man, that whole graduation ceremony was just hilarious and adorable and enjoyable <3 Those rock carved graduation caps still crack me up, Maud's speech was amazing, Pinkie was just the best sis ever in the audience, and just gah everything XD! Although, I am having a hard time believing that Maud is the only pony in all of Equestria who would want to study rocks and such and from a school like this. Especially if this is the only school in Equestria specialized in this graduate study, but I digress:)

Oh boy, it's hard to pick just one moment to make it the funniest out of this entire episodeXD From Pinkie Pie trying to sell the rocky nature of Ponyville, to Maud's dry sense of humor (also, who knew that she was a stand up comedian?!:D I mean, we knew in "Make New Friends But Keep Discord" that Maud likes jokes, but still:D). Apparently, as this episode pointed out, there's alot of things we didn't know like how Maud (or should I say Miss Maudeline Daisy Pie?;) Such a pretty name:D) and Starlight actually met each other once:D Under the oddest of circumstances XD

Apparently, Maud was studying rocks out where Starlight's village was. Before Starlight became the tyrant she is, she asked Maud if there is a stone that can help trap and keep cutiemarks inside. And Maud showed her where that big wall of crystal was in that cave in the Season 5 premierXD Crazy right!?XD But this brings up alot of questions: later in the episode, Maud mentioned how with the right spells and magic and rocks, one could take over Equestria with ease. So, does that mean there's an entire lore, history, and connection between Equestrian magic and rocks? Think about it: the Tree of Harmony, crystals, Twilight's tree house crystal castle, the elements of harmony, amulets. This could be a whole new untapped territory here:D It would be really cool if an episode dedicated a plot or just a moment to Starlight and Maud studying this connection between rocks and magic, and then they can make a book about it:D

Just a random thought: Since Maud is living in Ponyville now (sorry Ponyville Adjacent), I would love to see an episode or a moment where Discord and Maud become friends:3 Because well, hey, any unlikely pair is possible at this point;) Anyway, it would be interesting to see Discord finding out that Maud knows alot about magic and rocks and trying to urge her on to help him find a magical rock somewhere. And Fluttershy tags along to keep her hubby in line;)

Another thing I deeply enjoyed about this episode and was the most surprised about was the friendship developed between Starlight and Maud <3 They had surprisingly good chemistry despite their unusual circumstances in their first introduction, but when you think about it, it makes sense why. Due to Maud’s accepting, chill, and understanding nature, she has no pretenses about Starlight. And due to Starlight being so open to friendship, and understanding to ponies who are different, Maud likes Starlight in return. Plus, they’re both smart, calm individuals, with complimentary sense of humors, and with particular area of hobbies they specialize in with great detail. Apparently, lol, Starlight is really into kites XD Who knew?!XD

Anyway, what I really love about this episode is the character development and exploration of Maud’s character <3

What we found about Maud is that, as she stated herself, she has no problem finding interest in wanting to befriend other ponies and talk to them, but a matter of whether they take interest in her due to passion for rocks. Dawwww Maud, sweetie :’( Anyway, Maud is comfortable of being alone because, not only is she a very confident and secured pony, but also she is so use to being on her own due to not having any friends outside of her sisters mainly Pinkie and rocks. So, Maud had to go through a captivating character arc where Maud learns, not only make friends with Starlight, but trust in this new friendship with Starlight and accept that there are ponies who want to be friends with her <3

I also love what Maud said about why she loves rocks: Each rock has a story to tell. And I totally believe in that 100%:D That’s why I love rocks too:D! Maud, we’re soul sisters!;) By the way, Boulder, I agree with my soul sister Maud: you definitely don’t look a day over 600;)

In the end, I love the episode’s conclusion with Maud’s new place, the way that Maud and Pinkie say I Love You to each other, their little sleepover, and the best sisters ever slippers on Maud’s hooves :3

(By the way, I would love to see some lore and explanation as to why there was this magnificent cave in Ponyville. Maybe it’s because this gem cave is near the Everfree? Question Mark? All that I know is, I hope there’s some fun adventures at Maud’s new place and some magical rocks:D)

WARNING! SPOILERS DOWN BELOW!
Now, let’s review “Fluttershy Leans In”:D

Before I begin, I do have a couple of small nitpicks to this perfect episode: 1) why is this episode called “Fluttershy Leans In”? Is this a reference to something, and somehow this relates to the theme of this episode? Let me know in the comments down below; 2) was it just me or was anyone expecting Discord coming out of the door instead of Mr. McColt when she was describing somepony to help her build the animal sanctuary besides the experts? XD Lol so hard!
I know, I know it makes sooo much more sense because, like Fluttershy said, McColt is an expert builder and now he has a new appreciation for animals and nature because of what Fluttershy and Twilight did way back in Season 5 So, it was a really nice callback in my opinion Plus, Discord (kinda like the experts), would have tried to make the animal sanctuary “fun” in his style. As much as he wants to do a good thing for Fluttershy, I have a feeling he would show off for her by making the animal sanctuary, well, chaoticXD
Now, in terms of what I liked about the episode: while this episode may not have been as funny as “A Rock Solid Friendship”, this episode excels at delivering a great moral/inspirational message and showing us Fluttershy at her best. And I mean, at her very best:D Probably the best I’ve ever seen her!:D This has to be my all time favorite Fluttershy episode, and gah I just love it so much!:D

And to think, it all started from our favorite little demon: Angel;)

Anyway, at first, when I read the synopsis to this episode, I was trying to figure out how this episode will play it out and make it work cause…I and the audience never really knew that Flutters had a big dream before 0-0 But, once the episode plays out and explains it was an animal sanctuary, that makes sense for Fluttershy’s character because if she wanted to be a vet, well she would have to outrival the Ponyville vet and that’s not really Flutters’s style and plus Fluttershy is already a vet in her own right but just never charges ponies for it. Or her animals for that matter XD Plus, the design and creation of an animal sanctuary taps into Fluttershy’s creative side and its always great to see that side of her because it gives her character more depth and dimension:)

I just love how Fluttershy points out in this episode how she has never had the courage before to pursue this dream, but with the help of her friends over these past seasons, she has gained enough courage and confidence in herself to do it:D Way to go Flutters!:D I’m so proud of you!:D You’ve really shown us how you’ve grown and it just makes us all proud:’)

And this gets expanded on through Fluttershy’s actions by being strong but cheerful, optimistic, and kind in her assertions of her ideas and vision to the experts. Despite the experts’ hesitations to believe in her vision and ideas.

Mostly, I guess the reason why this episode really stuck with me is because how true to life it played to my life. As some or maybe most of you know, I have autism and when I was younger, I had a hard time dealing with my autism compared to how I can deal with it today. Anyway, in order to help me socialize and deal with my autistic tendencies, my family wanted me to learn in a classroom with kids with no mental disabilities so that I can learn from them basically At first, my elementary school was not on board with this idea because it was new and autism was not being talked about because it was such a new concept at the time. So understandably, they were hesitant and afraid of what I would do in the classroom. But with some great persuasion by my family, I was able to learn in the quote on quote “normal” classrooms. And I testify that this truly helped me become the person I am today Without it, I wouldn’t have been placed in a position to basically achieve my dreams and become the person I want to be So yeah, that was an example of people believing in an impossible vision; but, I have encountered instances where people have done the opposite. Or should I say, my mom has Whether my mom had to deal with experts and such when making improvements on our house or whether pursuing creative pursuits like Fluttershy did My mom is a super creative person, going beyond the realms that I could never reach I swear XD But much of the experts that my mom encountered, like the experts in this episode, did not believe in my mom’s visions for her projects and such because they are afraid of what they don’t know or what they are not comfortable with it. And because of it, no joke like this episode, they just did their own version of what my mom requestedXD So yeah, so true to lifeXD Or at least, my lifeXD

While i respect your review on Rock Solid Friendship, i don't respect you for Fluttershy Leans in. I felt you should have waited at least a week to review that. That's my opinion at least.

Fair enough, I can understand that:) The reason why I did it because 1) the episode was fresh in my mind and just had to write it down before I forgot the details of it, 2) today I wasn't busy and I have a feeling that I will be next weekend cause 3) Canada will probably leak another new episode like they did with "Fluttershy Leans In" and I don't want to be behind on my reviews.

1. Understandable, but you still could have waited. The only reason i can get away with Reviewing Episode 1 and 2 of seasons 5 and 7 is because they came out on the same day. Leaks don't count. I missed Season 6. Am i complaining about it? No. I can review them during the break. You also know that there is reruns as well. Besides, you can watch them at any point that you are not busy. You don't need to have a schedule. Look at other reviews. Some do review them on the same day, but others wait a while.

2. O.o understandable, but you could have told your fans "Hey, i am going to be very busy and i won't be able to post a review on time or for a while" You've done so in the past and we've understood. You can't be on here all the time. That's no different from any other person anywhere.

3. It's understandable but are the leaks forcing you to watch them? This is why rating have dropped for these shows and people watching them online. Granted i do that, but i do it after the episode has released on TV. Look at Steven Universe, people are leaking the episodes and it's been hurting the show. Look at "Legend of Korra", that show was on TV before various leaks started to swarm it into being viewed on the Internet.

It's understandable that you don't want to be behind on reviews...however here's the truth, you're going to be behind on reviews. This isn't the first time you were behind on your reviews and this certainly won't be the last.

You do whatever you want. I am just saying that watching leaked episodes before they air is a bad idea.

You're right, I could have waited and I get that. But admittedly, part of the reason why I did it cause I was excited and I just really liked the episodes and just thought they would compliment each other in a review The leaks aren't forcing me to watch them, I just wanted I see the episode early cause I'm weak I'm very weak LolXD BUT don't worry, I will watch any leaked episodes when it premiers on TV:) I said this in the review above and I always say it in my reviews. I always support the official release. I always encourage others to see the official release, but I forgot to say it in this review and that I apologize for. I know it's okay to be late on reviews, but again, I was just excited that's all But you're right, I should have stated that I was busy and such and that's why I'm doing it this way, but again I forgot

I, too, expected Discord to pop in through the door, let alone the entire episode! I usually have CN12 watch a new MLP episode first so I don't end up waiting for Discord to show up.
