Please, Don't Support the Dead Trees FoE PnP · 4:20am Apr 26th, 2017
So, another case of I'm gone for some time, hopefully this doesn't come to pass again, I really do want to get back into the community, but anyway I'm here with something pretty important.
So, when I was parsing through groups, I saw something in the Fallout Equestria group, namely an indigogo for a Fallout Equestria Pen and Paper...
You guys know me, I love Fallout Equestria, I love pen and paper, in fact I've played some Fallout Equestria PnP, hell I've been the Overmare in a game (or Overstallion in my case but whatever) using my typical combination of doing a crossover, in that particular case Shining Time Station because... ehh I don't know why, I wouldn't question it.
Anyway back on point, Fallout Equestria in all forms is supposed to be a labor of love, sure some people have done physical things in the past (I love my hardback copies of the orignal book and Pink Eyes, I'd even do one for PH if they do it (despite not being a fan of PH)) but even then they;'ve always been non-profit.
They carefully calculated approximately how much it would be to make the amount of copies they needed, and any excess was given to charity.
So, why are these people asking for so much money when they didn't show us anything but a few books?
Again, I love tabletop RPG's, they're the ultimate escapism because not only do you get to play another role, you get to become them, do as you want, but all this is for another time, for now let's focus on what's important.
The game!
And they show us nothing, the video is just them talking about themselves followed by a live play from Babscon with no talking, just music.
This is strange to everyone else right?
Well here's another thing, they don't give any type of price layout, basically just, "Give us your money we know what we're doing," without any actual information on how much will go into printing costs, shipping costs, or anything.
It's also flexible, which means make the goal or not, they get the money, they also promise that no matter what you'll get what you pay for, but again without any information on how much that is.
Yea, they have pledge goals, but how do we know they'll make enough off those goals alone to actually produce the promised items without any information on how much production costs?
Now back to subject, actual mechanics, as far as I can tell there are none, which is you know kind of an important thing.
Despite all the pictures and the two minute video we don't get as much as what dice are needed for the system, let alone stats, equipment, racial benefits, or anything.
We get one page of the book, that's it
Enjoy all the mechanics we actually know, everything else is mock ups of art and clay figures.
Look, I hate to be that guy, but I can't in good faith say to give them a penny, even if they actually provided information there's a good five FoE tabletop games you can find for free online, including one partially made by Kkat, as well as a moderately active community on the FoE forums where you can set up an online game.
Overall, this whole thing just stinks to me, if you were actually at Babscon, or know someone who was and played their playtest let me know, and let me know about the game because I would like even the slightest amount of hope on this, but as is it stinks more then the time someone put up FoE on Amazon.
Like digital copies for sale, and if you're wondering it didn't last long at all for a good reason.
I'm sorry but, I have to say that you shouldn't trust something with no information given other than donate just because, and especially because it's Fallout Equestria.
I already PMed Kkat the forum when I saw it, I'll update this when I get her opinion, but I've given mine.
This smells like a grade A scam, one with a lot of effort put in, but a scam none the less.
Eh I kinda agree. Seems a bit too open like they dont have their shit together for me to put money on it. It would be hella nice to have hard copies and things like that for a game like this. Its just I cant tell even if they get them money (witch is probably way too much) that tell even make something worth any quality out of it.

Exactly, add to that the Kkat system, the system from the FoE PnP wiki, the Mad Modd's alternate system based on Kkat's, there's one from a guy on DA, and someone's making a conversion for 5th ED D&D.
And all these are 100% free.
If they put out a hard copy of the Kkat system like they did for the FoE printing, I'd be there, but I can't trust a game with no explanation of mechanics, and the only game footage has music over it so we can't hear discussion.
Add to that they say they're in post-production but again, no mechanics which are kind of the core to any game, even the crappiest card game on Kickstarter tells you how it's played.
