I've always been fond of that phrase.
Okay, so the world's kinda turned upside down these past few weeks. I'm studying for a state certification exam, I'm gonna be a daddy, work is a bloody nightmare...
I've spent the past several weeks working on the next two chapters of 'On Swift Wings' simultanously. I have to, since the thumb drive containing the mostly completed final chapters of 'the Wicker Mare' has up and vanished.
It was while I was writing Dash and Fluttershy's arrival in the Great City of Zeph that I came to a horrifying realization; the story was coming out forced. I wasn't having fun writing it.
Like so many stories before, the story was dying.
I panicked, saved everything, and took a step back. I took a little writing vacation, only dropping a few lines of poetry in the past couple weeks. 'Wings' cannot die, since that would mean the death of the Continuity. I can't trip this close to the finish line. I can't come all this way an leave another story untold.
Not again.
In the past few days, I've started feeling that old creative spark again. I'm going to be doing a guest chapter for a story that will surprise a bunch of you. I'm taking another look at 'Wings' and trying to figure out where the drag is coming from.
Thanks to the arrival of a nostalgic CD and a sudden burst of imaginative energy, the final piece has come into play.
I realized that 'the Story of Tonight' wasn't going to work. I picked it apart, took the elements that worked, excised the ones that didn't, and fully retooled it into the new story 'Here's To Us.'
My attempt at cover art;
(It's supposed to be Fluttershy's scrapbook/yearbook)
The first chapter is done and the thing has been submitted for approval. The next chapter is already a quarter done. Not gonna lie, I'm looking to melt some hearts with the Rarity/AJ chapter.
'Wings...' don't think I'm done with you, baby. Come Hell or high water, you're getting told.
When you say it's been submitted for approval, I assume you mean auto-approval.
Do as you need to.
Maintaining interest in our own stories is a slippery thing, but it is a good indicator of where we should focus our efforts. I'm glad that you found a path forward.
4504023 Nah, I went old school on this one. I try to do that with all my sexy stuff, just in case.
4504023 ...And this is taking forever, so I might just do the auto-approval if it isn't up by the twelve hour mark.
4504312 Behold, the point.
If something genuinely breaks site rules, one of the mods generally comes along and points it out even if it didn't go through them. If you have any reasonable amount of confidence that your fic is no less site-breaking than the bestiality fic currently in the featured box if you turn on Mature View, there really is no reason not to go for the faster option that means less work for the mods.
