Someone left a knife after fleeing my family's house when they heard me coming. Thankfully, they only stole my aunts cigarettes.

4466559 Never leave it open, always lock it, and get a very thick and heavy wooden door. For gates and other doors that lead outside, we have some bricks and wooden planks blocking them so we can hear if someone tries to break in. We also have screens on many of our windows.

As for the dogs, it may work, but there may be times where it won't work.
