A non-pony writing for my readers

Just a little something I wrote a while ago. I don't write ponies anymore, but I write stuff like this all of the time. Thought at least some people might be interested. I novelized this incredible scene-

“So… this all seems horrible,” Banner smiled as the scooter’s engine began to die.

    Sorry guys but I'm out

It's been forever since I have updated anything, or hell, even visited this site.

I do apologize to all of my readers.

I have been really busy with life recently. Lots of responsibilities and such. Keeping happy can sometimes be a chore. Yet again, I am sorry.

I haven't updated in... how long ago has it been since I updated?

Work, school, friends, an addiction to GTA IV, and usual pet care have been really dragging away at my free time. To add to the list, one of my dogs had surgery, and he's on bed-rest. Being the animal-person that I am, I usually rest with him when I have any free time.

    New FlutterDash fic

So yeah, my new plans are to write a FlutterDash fic. A good one at that too. I'm currently brainstorming at the moment, but I can tell you that I want to do something original. Things I will do with this fic-

Mass Effect Crossover- What are you looking for?

So I am thinking about writing a Mass Effect crossover. Being a huge Mass Effect fanboy, it seems natural. However, there are so many good ME crossovers before me, so I really want to do something original.

So (If I have any followers that are also ME fans)...

What are you looking for in a Mass Effect crossover?

Just a friendly question for all you writers? · 3:00am Sep 28th, 2012

I LOVE talking fiction, especially with fellow MLP addicts. So I thought those who might feel the same could comment on this blog post :)

Here a just a couple of questions I have for you guys. My answers are probably really boring, but I look forward to reading your posts :)

When, and why, did you start to write fanfiction?

Well, being a grumpy old cynic, I decided that maybe I should read a little shipping of my favorite TV show. I came to the conclusion that FlutterDash was the best ship while watching the show; I didn't read any fanfics beforehand. I can't remind exactly when, but I read all the FlutterDash I could find. And I loved every little bit of it.

After being inspired by the awesome amount of FlutterDash on this site (Special mentions are Nintendogal55 and Souldin), I thought "Hey... I might as well try. Why not?"

And so my first fic was born. Except I really screwed up on a ton with grammitical errors. I had forgotten to properly write fiction; I used to quite a bit when I was young, but at the moment, all I read was nonfiction stuff. Boring topics (To you) like phyogenetics and adaptive radiation doesn't help me with fiction. So I was really, really, bad. But I had a lot of help, and now I am writing pretty well. Still, I can always improve.

I guess I really enjoy writing fanfiction, more than I thought I would.

What is your favorite novel? Have you ever used some of your favorite author's techniques in your fics?

My favorite novel is Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. Compared to my pony fics, you would have never guessed that I could like such a depressing, helpless, and cynical novel. But I love it; it's such a moving piece in so many different ways. It's a book that can make you laugh and cry within the same page. I write sappy fics to escape reality, however, whenever I have to deal with reality, I read Slaughterhouse-Five.

The phrase so it goes appears 106 times in the novel. I have it tattooed on my left bicep. Life, at least to me, can be summed up in those three words.

But... back to happy stuff :)

Most favorite and least favorite ship?

Favorite- FlutterDash
Least favorite- TwiDash and FlutterMac. Tied.

Favorite pony?

Fluttershy! I'm basically a male version! Yay!

Favorite fic on mine, and why

I feel bad for asking, but I still plan on writing fics in the future. If you could answer this for me, I would really, really, really appreciate it. It will help me focus on stuff- do I write the funny the best? The sad? Ect...

Favorite episode of MLP: FIM?
Stare-Master, Luna Eclipsed, and Hurricane Fluttershy.

When/why: About 2 months ago. Because I loved some other work I've seen and I've fallen love with the MLP universe.
Favorite novel: Without a doubt it is The Heart of a Dragon:moustache:
Favorite ship: Twilestiadl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Twilight_Sparkle_lolface.png
Least Favorite Ship: It's hard to choose just one. I'd say FlutterMac and Celestia/Discord tie for least favorite.:twilightangry2:
Favorite pony: Celestiadl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/lolface_Celestia.png
Favorite fic of your's: Your latest onedl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_Bonbon_OMG_LOVE.png
Favorite episode: Luna Eclipsed, Lesson Zero are both tied for first.dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/shrug_Luna_apple.png dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/shrug_Twilight_Sparkle.png

I am just basically getting started and I know very few about some writing techniques and all. I am just currently writing the chapter 2... but if that counts.

When, and why, did you start to write fanfiction?

Before I got interested in MLP: FiM and a brony. I had no interest in writing or novels. But after becoming a brony and reading one of the fictions on this website after hearing that this fandom has awesome writers as well. So "Old Vengeance" is my first-ever story.
I thought writing was awesome after reading many stories. Because they were just simply amazing and some even made me drop tears. So I thought I could try to write at least.

What is your favorite novel? Have you ever used some of your favorite author's techniques in your fics?

As I said, I had no interest in novels before becoming a brony. And I haven't read any... so... none... sorry. :fluttershysad:

Most favorite and least favorite ship?

My most favorite is obviously FlutterDash because I think they are the cutest and the best couple in the universe. You know why.
Least favorite? Any shipping that conflicts FlutterDash. Examples: TwiDash, AppleDash, FlutterMac, PinkieDash etc.

Favorite pony?
Fluttershy! I'm basically a male version! Yay!

You just answered the question for me.

Favorite fic on mine, and why

Hmm... this is a hard question... Personally, I think you are good with: Sad, Romance and Slice of Life. But that is just me.
And if you talk about your recent fictions... Those are "We're In This Together" and "Living in The Present, Hoping for The Future."

Favorite episode of MLP: FIM?

Hurricane Fluttershy of course.

I do not know if I am a writer. But I just answered it. So, yeah. I am a boring one.
Sorry for not being able to answer the "novel" question as well.

Hmm seems interesting. Ill try it.

When, and why, did you start to write fanfiction?

Personally I have always liked making up stories in my head as a past time. I just never put my ideas down on paper till relatively recently.

I started reading FF about 4 years ago, and about a year or two ago I decided to write my first fic, but it wasn't about MLP. MLP is now one of my favourites, so I decided to try writing about it. The first Pony fic I wrote started this month.

What is your favorite novel? Have you ever used some of your favorite author's techniques in your fics?

I don't really have a favourite author or novel. The ones at the top of my list would be: Tolkien, Stephen King, and George R.R. Martin.

I guess they influence some of my writing, so yes I guess I do use some of their techniques. Though I'm not even close to being as good as they are. :rainbowdetermined2:

Most favorite and least favorite ship?

My favourite ship is a tie between Flutterdash and AppleSparkle. Cant decide!:twilightblush:

My least favourites: Any male in the series, and just about any OC. Hands down. :twilightangry2:

Favourite pony?

Twilight, Luna, and AJ. Really I don't have a favourite pony, I like them all but If I had to choose I think I would pick them.

Favourite fic on mine, and why

So far my personal favourite fic of yours is Living for the present, "Hoping for the Future" Your recent revisions have made it much much better and shown how much you have improved. Great job! Keep writing dude!

Favorite episode of MLP: FIM?

I like Luna Eclipsed, Hearths Warming Eve, Hurricane Fluttershy, and Lesson Zero. Still I love ALL the episodes. :scootangel:

Well thats my input, however much it means. This was kinda fun to do I guess.

When, and why, did you start to write fanfiction?
I always loved writing and fan fiction, but never actually wrote a fanfic. After a while of spending time with Azurini who always asked for creative input, I decided to give writing a shot. I'm pleased with the response, but I'm far too lazy to do it often. :rainbowlaugh:

What is your favorite novel? Have you ever used some of your favorite author's techniques in your fics?
Never really did like novels too much. Although I've always been a fan of the warriors series. As for techniques, I doubt it, but maybe I did it without even knowing.

Most favorite and least favorite ship?
Technically, "Most favorite" is grammatically incorrect. :pinkiecrazy: If you couldn't tell from my name, I wuv FlutterDash. Second person romance with Dash or Fluttershy also appeals to me too. Least Favorite? Pretty much anything with Big Mac.

Favorite Pony?
Oh no... It's either Dashie or Fluttershy. :rainbowkiss::yay:

[Favorite fic of yours?
At least that's what I assume you meant. Probably "Living in the Present, hoping for the future." Just because it's so FlutterDash centric and the comedy was pretty awesome too. Although "We're in this Together" might take the cake. We'll see!

Favorite episode of MLP: FIM
Hmm... I loved all of them, but I'm pretty sure I've seen "Sonic Rainboom", "Party of One" and "Griffin the Brush Off" about 8 times each.

Ooh, this looks fun!

When, and why, did you start to write fanfiction?:
Technically I started in April 2012 with some Mass Effect stuff, but if you mean MLP; I started writing in july.

What is your favorite novel? Have you ever used some of your favorite author's techniques in your fics?:
That differs what time you ask... At the moment it's The King's Book by Arnaldur Indriðason, but that'll probably change again soon. Writing style... Not really. At least, not that I know of...

Most favourite and least favourite ship?:
I get the feeling we are in a difference of opinion here Dinoman, because my favourite in that category is TwiDash. If we're talking least favourite, it's probably RainbowPie/PinkieDash(don't even know the correct name...).

Favourite Pony?:
It's gotta be the hard questions, huh?! I like all of 'em, but I guess Rainbow Dash is my favourite.

Favourite fic of yours:
Well, it depends... Of everything I've read it would probably be A Bluebird's Song or The Gift of the Magi... If it would have to be non-twidash(for you to read), I'd say Love Will Set You Free or... I dunno... Can't remember anything at the moment, blackout!

I seriously recommend that you give A Bluebird's Song and The Gift of the Magi a chance though. Both are absolutely beautiful stories, and the first has got a very good plot(No pun intended).

When and why? About a year ago I discovered fanfiction as a medium for writing and started writing for the Mass Effect fandom. I've still got a Metroid/Mass Effect crossover I'm working on. I just were pony stuff too now.

Favorite novel? Definitely "The Good Soldiers," by David Finkel. An absolutely stunning account of the Iraq war.

Favorite ship? Either Twysalis or Twiluna. Twilestia is nice too.
Yeah, I kinda like pairing Twi with royalty.

Least favorite. TwiMac, or anything with Spike or the crusaders.

Favorite pony? Definitely Twilight. Then Luna, followed by Chryssy.

Favorite story of yours? The only one I've read is "We're all in this Together."

Favorite episode? Winter Wrap-Up, A Party of One, or Luna Eclipsed.

me and you have the least favorite ships

Oooh, I'll do this on my blog! :pinkiehappy:

Hey, thanks for posting this. :pinkiehappy: It's always cool to look into "behind the scenes" with fellow writers.

To answer one question though... It's hard to say. XD I love FlutterDash, so it's hard to choose! But I'll go with Living In The Present, Hoping For The Future. Because it's got the sweet building up to the romance, we get into Tank and Angel, and they're on vacation in an AWESOME location that I just love! So yes!

Mass Effect? (Fanboy squee)

I am the very model of a scientist Salarian,
I've studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian.
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology), because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology)
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian.
I am the very the very model of a scientist Salarian!

The first time I heard that I laughed. The last time I heard it, I cried.

If you ever want to talk Mass Effect, I am your guy. It is my favorite fictional series of all time!

388981
I hope to see Fanfics from you in the future! I can't wait!

Thanks for your reply!

388863
Heart of a dragon was suburb. Kinda sad with Spike being immortal. Ugh.... Rarity or Celestia?

389862
"If you ever want to talk Mass Effect, I am your guy. It is my favorite fictional series of all time!"

Your avatar gave it away ;)

And yes, the last time Mordin sang A Scientist Salarian was a heartbreaker... No matter how much complaints people have about ME3, it still had some of the best moments in the series.

388881
Thanks for your answers! And you are most defiantly a writer! Keep up the good work on your fic. Believe me, I know how hard it is to write. But I have learned a lot, and I am still getting better.

388931
I'm with you on the male shipping being bad. To me, it's usually because there are no male dynamic characters in the show. Well, except for :moustache:, but that's it. Shipping fics should be about dynamic characters that the audience cares about.

389881
Shepard-Commander, I must go to them. I'm... I'm sorry. It's the only way.

Me- :fluttershysad::fluttercry::raritydespair::raritycry::raritycry::pinkiesad2::applecry::applecry::fluttercry:

389892
"Not sure if Turian heaven is the same as yours, but if this thing goes sideways and we both end up there... Meet me at the bar. I'm buying."

Garrus was awesome... The only thing I can say about my reaction to the goodbye scenes is that manly tears were shed. :raritycry:
Actually, no, buck manly tears, many tears were shed, manly or not.

389913
I like this exchange.

"Hey Legion. Good luck."
"Acknowledged. "

Later-
"Shepard-Commander. Good luck."
"Acknowledged."

Legion is the ultimate bro-bot

389916
Indeed he was. It was kind of heartless of BioWare to kill him off, but it was possible to see it coming a mile away, so I was prepared.

389922
Favorite character (As my avatar probably shows), so yeah, that one hit me hard.
But at least he went out with a smile.

389934
I could never pick an absolute favourite Mass Effect character... I suppose Garrus, Tali, Legion and Liara are my favourites. Now I think we should stop spamming your own comments section with Mass Effect discussion... We can continue this in PM's if we must :twilightsheepish:

Edit: That awkward moment when you realise that there is no PM system... Or is there?...

389940
There is. Go to the person you want to PM and click the little envelop icon.

When, and why, did you start to write fanfiction?
I don't write, but I started reading fanfiction regularly at the start of this year. I think the first ever fanfic that I read and liked was Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality. I never really read fanfics before, because I was of the opinion that most of them sucked. Pony fics proved that wrong and now I spend the majority of any given day reading on this site.

What is your favorite novel? Have you ever used some of your favorite author's techniques in your fics?
Oh man, I've read way too many to choose. Picking at random: Dune.

Most favorite and least favorite ship?
Currently TwiLuna. My 'most favorite' ship changes based on the most recent fic I've read. But it'll usually be TwiXsomeone.
My least favorite ship would have to be PinkieXanyone. Because.

Best pone?
Twilight. There can be no doubt.

Favorite fic on mine, and why?
Living the Present, Hoping for the Future. Because that's the only one of your fics that I've read, so far. :twilightsheepish:

Favorite episode of MLP: FIM?
I can't even choose, but probably The Return of Harmony Part 1/2.

Also, Mass Effect. I loved 1 and 2, and I actually preordered 3 but I still haven't played it. A while ago I got a 'new' computer (still pretty old parts) and I didn't think to backup my Mass Effect saves. So yeah, I lost my saves. That really bummed me out and killed the urge to play ME3. I've tried to stay away from all ME3 spoilers but from what I've heard, all your previous decisions don't even matter? I guess I'll get around to playing ME3 eventually.

389878
I only read the Celestia ending. I didn't like Rarity that much in the story:trixieshiftright:

390857
Ugh... being immortal.... it's something that makes my head hurt. I look forward to dying after a long life. If that makes any sense.

390863
I'm one of the few people who would be a million times happier being immortal than not.

390868
The idea literally makes me not want to live. Living forever makes me not want to live. Something in there doesn't make sense. :applejackconfused:

But you can get cybernetic augmentations in the future and live forever in the future! :yay:

390874
Probably not in our lifetime though...:fluttercry:Let's move on, shall we? Life and death talk isn't my favorite topic.

389882
Thank you for that!

And I have over-heard that you love the Mass Effect series. I only played Mass Effect 3 sadly. And I think that the ending for Mass Effect 3, I am sure about that "Mass Effect Ending Theory" is actually true or something. If BioWare doesn't do so... I will be very disappointed
But other than the ending, I have to say that Mass Effect 3 was an awesome game and I will play the other two when I can. :raritywink:

When/Why?: I started writing because my friend wanted me to, because he thought I could do pretty ok, I guess. I'm not too sure how well that's turning out. I actually used to write a lot, but have only recently gotten back into it. I probably also started up again just because it has been a while, and I missed it.

My Favorite Novel?: Tough, but I would have to say "The Horse and his Boy".

Favorite/Least Favorite Ship?:
Fav-FlutterDash(a lot of people consider it overused, but I would just call it abundant)
Least Fav-Can't decide, really.

Favorite Pony: Fluttershy, if I had to make the call.

Favorite fic of yours?: I'm really enjoying Living for the Past, Hoping for the Future. I tried to read it before you started rewriting, but as soon as I finished the first chapter, you took them all down to start rewriting them. It took a minute to realize what had happened.

Favorite Episode: Hurricane Fluttershy

And despite everything, I still liked Mass Effect 3. Even though I wish it ended with a bit less realism and a bit more ridiculous pull-throughs, it does fit who my Shepard was that he would do what he had to do. Not to mention that the game outside the ending was probably the best and most interesting Mass Effect experiences I could have hoped for.
