And Now for Something Completely Different · 7:40pm Feb 12th, 2017

So today I did something different. Upon learning that The Lego Batman Movie was in theaters (how did I almost miss this?), I crawled out of my dark cave of mortal isolation and into the sunlight. And since I normally wake up at around 7 AM or so, I got to see an early morning feature. Now normally, I'd just watch the movie and go home. But this time? I took a walk around. And in so doing, I reminded myself exactly why I live where I do.

Y'see, I live in a little place just north of Houston called The Woodlands. Unlike most suburban areas, this one was made with aesthetics and its name in mind, and if you walk more than five minutes in any one direction you really do feel like you're out in the forested country. The area is pleasant, green, quiet, and above all else, friendly. And yet, somehow, not five minutes from where I live, nestled within all this attractive greenery, is a mall and marketplace (called, ingeniously, Market Street). Everything I could possibly want – restaurants, clothiers, restaurants, parks, bookstores, restaurants, entertainment centers, and did I mention restaurants? The roadways are clean, you can walk through the alleyways without fear of getting mugged, people are polite. It's like walking through a small country town, but with all the conveniences of a big city.

And I love it.

This brings me to the point of this blog. All too often, I fall into the trap of wanting to get things done. This always leads to the same thing: me sitting at my computer throughout my day, never going out and doing anything. And I know from experience that I will do it again. I don't mind that I do this kind of thing.

But it's important, every once in a while, to just step away and do something different for a change. I encourage all of you to try doing the same. There's almost certainly something you love outside of this fandom, so by all means, go do it.

Just every now and again.

It always feels good.

my dark cave of mortal isolation

And by that you mean the Batcave... right?

Wait, there's a new Lego movie? I've heard literally nothing about it.
Also, can confirm Woodlands is nice place.

That picture is adorable, and I so want to put some words in AJ's mouth:
"All set for Iron Pony, Rainbow?"
"That a pegasus or a flyin' blueberry?"
"Me? This ain't nothing special. Just wait 'till you see Big Mac."

I think getting out an experiencing something like that (the walk or the movie) is downright essential to the creative process.

When I saw the title of this one I knew that I had heard that line before, in a kinda catchy way that made me remember it for whatever reason, but could not recall exactly where. Well as luck would have it I happened to hear it again today because YouTube auto-play managed to navigate me to this song. I kinda doubt this is what your referencing, in fact the song is probably pulling the line from somewhere else, but there it is, at 0:47.
