Random Thoughts - James Cameron, The Avatar Movie · 12:28pm Feb 12th, 2017
So... this is just a thing.
But when I first watched that movie, I honestly thought it was gonna be Avatar the Last Airbender tbh. But eh.
Anyway, remember the Na'vis? those giant blue dudes? And how the military or whatever was blasting away at them and shit...
Would you think differently of me if I were to say I was rooting for the humans in this movie? And not the actual heroes?
Would be interesting
let me think, it's a story in which the main character tames flying beast by linking his nervous system to theirs through a pony tail, and later links with the Goddess/Sacred tree of the blue aliens and then immediately decides to side with them.
Nah, it's utterly bizarre to resent the humans doing their damn jobs and mining a valuable resource that could help improve the quality of life for billions back on Earth.
That being said, this isn't entirely one sided-the humans in this are doing some bull shittery things, but even at the start we see the natives are hostile to the company. I have to wonder which instigated or escalated aggression first-probably the company, I will admit but the natives could very well have attacked first.

While I will admit the movie was pretty good, that pony tail thing freaked me out.
They were, I'll agree with that. And I can see why the natives would be hostile at first, strange short aliens coming to their world and trying to mine it. I'm sure there could have been something worked out that wouldn't have led to bloodshed, but I am rather sketchy on who shot first so to speak. Regardless, I'm with the humans in this situation, because I'm sure anything being mined there could improve life on earth, maybe even open up hundreds if not thousands of paying jobs.
Speaking of which, I googled this movie, and its getting like four sequels apparently... not sure how to feel about that.
There's a theory that when the main character links his ponytail thing that the tree brainwashed him.

Wouldn't doubt it, damn alien scum!
Exterminatas that motherfucker
Menschheit über alles.

Say wha?
4419488 humanity above all else.
While I enjoyed the movie mainly for the aesthetics of it and the cast (because even as a giant blue alien, Zoe Saldana is fucking perfection....PLUS Michelle Rodriguez as a pilot...unf) once I figured out it was basically Pocahontas meets Ferngully, I was just kind of like whatever...
Definitely watching all four sequels, though. xD
