So I've been thinking · 12:07am Dec 17th, 2016
Since I lost my job, I've been thinking. Though I'm looking for full-time work of any kind, I think in my spare time I'd like to learn to start editing on a professional level. Because writing is what I really enjoy, particularly helping others improve their writing.
I was wondering how one goes about becoming a professional editor. How do I get training, a job, etc. Any advice would be glorious.
Love y'all,

I'd recommend sending an email or letter to a professional author that you like, (along with a portfolio if you can), since they'll have used editors before and will know more about them than I would in the professional scene.
Wish I could help you there. If you find out let me know. I might be interested in that field too. XD
That sounds like a great idea! To be honest, I'm not sure how. I suppose you could see what the web has to say about it.
One of the things you could do is do some various editing for authors here or on another site. Whether you do that for free or charge up the is up to you. Personally, I'd make em pay. Some people charge per certain # of words (i.e. $5 for a 1000 words) or per hour spent editing.
Trying asking more experienced peeps in the Looking for Editors and the Proofreader Group. I remember peeps talking about what it's like being an editor and how much they charge.
Love ya and praying for y'all!
