The Deadline On The Doorstep · 5:59am Dec 13th, 2016
I Surrender! Refer to this please.
Try as I might I always seem to work better under pressure. It's not good for me, but there it is.
It's December. I've finished my work contract and am unemployed again, giving me more time at last. University doesn't start until next year. Distractions are out of the way and it's really past time to start working on Part 2 of The Starlight Broadcast. So in an effort to keep ontop of things I'll be updating my day-by-day word count here in this post. Rush, rush, type, type, edit, edit, die. That's the plan as usual. Starting today.
Right.
Dec 13 -- 10,000 words.
Dec 14 -- 4,000 5,000 words.
Dec 15 -- Cards Against Humanity.
Dec 16 -- 2,000 words.
Dec 17 -- Got into a fight with a printer.
Dec 18 -- 2,000 3,000 4,000 8,000 words.
Dec 19 -- 5,000 9,000 words.
Dec 20 -- 5,000 7,500 10,000 words.
Dec 21 -- Cards Against Humanity.
Dec 22 -- 1,000 words.
Dec 23 -- 3,000 8,000 9,000 words.
Dec 24 -- Unfortunate pre-Xmas distractions (plus Printer Fight 2: Return of the Stubborn Install Program)
Dec 25 -- Xmas distractions, yes. But also EDITING! And REVISION! (And watching Sense8) But mostly revision!
Dec 26 -- Moping and Whining
Total = 54,000.
Word counts are displayed in approximations because neat numbers look better and there's no point being super exact about this until it's finished anyway, so there. (And let's be honest, I'm not good at maths.)
Old News: Currently I'm expecting further Xmas distractions to make writing difficult for the next few days. Timing-wise I think I may just cool down and focus on editing, for now, because it tolerates interruptions better. I will definitely have something uploaded before the end of the month, even if I haven't finished the whole of Part 2 by then. I have over 50,000 words done, and I will apply editing to the early chapters and those should be ready to go up before New Years. I will continue to push through the rest of Part 2 over December and into January, and hopefully chapters will be uploaded on a... gonna say 'weekly' basis... whenever I feel ready to start that.
New News: Revision, editing, brainstorming and rethinking everything, because it's time for my mid-story writer's crisis. Much like a midlife crisis, where I will panic that I have been wasting my time, argue that drastic changes to how I do things are totally necessary, and also pretend like I have it all together and hope nobody notices as I rush to bring meaning to the decisions I have already made. Yayyy... But seriously, I'm on it. Don't mind me for the next few days... I'll be fine. This is how it works! I swear!!
Additional: Spent a good few hours puzzling some problems out and I feel a lot better about things now. Hopefully I can find time to work tomorrow. Have been jotting down ideas all night, also. Much better grasp of the story now, and the characters and directions and meaning and such. Never underestimate a good brainstorming / revision.
