Worst Patient Ever - Update Complete & Parting Thoughts

A year to the day since I published the first chapter of Worst Patient Ever, and as of now the story is at last complete. It’s almost a misnomer to only think of this story as a year-long process. In reality, it’s taken well over that, nearing on two years since I first started to brainstorm, outline, and sketch out how the story would take place.

Nose to the Grindstone - New Story & Story Updates

To my fellow Canadians in the room: Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the changing of the leaves, the cooler weather, and bountiful turkey- and potato- and gravy-related foods. Enjoy a walk through a park or something where the leaves have fallen before the snow comes (unless you're like me and the snow's already here 8D).

    Leaked Episode - "Daring Done"

In case people haven't heard, Hasbro appears to have accidentally leaked next week's episode and now it's poppin' up all over YouTube. I considered waiting until next week to watch it (like I'm sure many are doing), but when I found out it was "Daring Done," that wasn't happening.

    So I watched it.

    And I loved it.

    Spoilers below.

Cover Art & New Story Incoming · 11:42pm Dec 9th, 2016

Hello my holiday and snow-ready people!

It's been some time since I've done anything, hasn't it? Though it may look like I've been a slug-mallow, I have actually been tinkering with a few projects, and one of them is ready to be posted. That's right! Coming soon, to a fimfiction.net near you, will be a new story!

Any fans of LyraBon out there might be even kind of happy to hear this :raritywink:

Before I get to that, though, there is some other business I wanted to discuss. An incredibly close friend of mine (and fantastic artist), Rossby Waves, has been kind and patient enough to draw a bunch of new cover art for some of my older stories. You might recognize some of his work if you took a gander at a more recent story of mine or if you follow any of the work done by ZOMG and Crystal Wishes or any of the work done in the Quill and Blade universe.

So, in light of all of this, I am going to be updating the covers of my stories one at a time and posting a little blog like this one so that his hard and beautifully done work will have a chance to be seen and appreciated by as many people as possible. Once all five—that's right, you heard me. Five!—of the stories are updated with their new covers, I will be posting a new story with art also provided by Rossby.

Why don't we start with the oldest of the batch?

Taking a Breather was something I wrote for the third writing contest hosted by the TwiDash group. Looking back on the story now, I am proud to see that there are some bad writing habits that I have kicked since then. Then again, I am sure that in a year or so from now I will look back on some more recent/in-progress stories and feel the same way.

Regardless, here is the new cover art for Taking a Breather!

Autumn was always her favourite season, especially the beginning of autumn. The leaves were just beginning to turn, a few already dancing on the wind to the cold ground below. The first of the cool winds would blow through the trees, but not yet too cool to stop ponies from going outside. She relished in how the leaves crunched under her hooves, how the cool grass would tickle at her stomach, and how the sun would warm her coat, all the while surrounded by the dying green leaves giving way to crispy yellows, warm browns, and rusty reds.

Whenever a cold wind blew through, before Twilight could even shiver she’d feel a downy wing spread over her back keeping the chilled air at bay and turn to meet an earnest smile from Rainbow. Twilight was growing to love that smile. It was different from the regular cocky smirk Rainbow showed the rest of the world. It was sincere, and sometimes Twilight felt that it was reserved just for her.

Today, the two found themselves cuddled up on Twilight’s balcony, the Daring Do book laying open between them. From high up all of Ponyville was spread out before them as it slowly turned from summer to autumn while the two curled up underneath a canopy of golden yellow.

Rainbow’s wing was already spread over Twilight’s back, drawing the unicorn in close. Twilight could feel her coat rubbing against Rainbow’s with each breath as they finished the last chapter.

I adore the colours used for the changing of the seasons in this piece. If you like it, too, then click on the picture for a link to Rossby's personal webpage! You'll find commission information there, too, and some samples of some other things that he's done!

See you all tomorrow for the next cover art update!
