A Conversation I Have Been Having With Myself Recently · 4:08pm Feb 1st, 2012
“Hmm, so I’ve finished off my second multi-chapter story. What sort of multi-chapter story should I write next?”
“Rainbow Pie!”
“No, no. We’ve done enough Rainbow Pie for a while. Hmm. Maybe branch out, try a new genre? Perhaps an adventure story?”
“An adventure story where Rainbow Dash falls in love with Pinkie Pie?”
“NO. Think, think, think. Or perhaps something sci-fi? I do like science fiction stories. I could do something with time travel. I never get tired of time travel stories.”
“A time travel story where a Pinkie Pie from the future tries to go to the past to prevent the untimely death of Rainbow Dash, because she has always loved—“
“NO! No Rainbow Pie this time!"
“Awww.”
“I don’t want to get myself locked in a box as only being a romance writer, okay?”
“Well, what’s wrong with writing romance?”
“Um, nothing, really, it’s just—you know what? This is a digression. We’re trying to think of a new multi-part story.”
“We could write about Applejack making a wish that all her friends would stop telling lies and, through an amusing series of mishaps, that wish comes true. A wish that Applejack immediately regrets.”
“ … that’s … that’s actually not bad. That just might--”
“And then Pinkie Pie, unable to lie, confesses her love for Rainbow Dash!”
“You are banned from speaking. For at least twenty minutes.”
“Awww! Okay, okay, okay. No more Rainbow Pie. I promise. I have a new idea.”
“Are you very, very certain it’s not Rainbow Pie? Because if you say ‘Rainbow Pie’ again, I’m probably going to hit you.”
“Absolutely, one hundred percent certain.”
“All right, then. You may proceed.”
“Okay, so, after the Sisterhooves Social, Rarity starts warming up to Applejack’s less fastidious ways, and in turn Applejack starts realizing that Rarity is stronger than she’d thought, and the two of them—“
“ARGH!”

All stories ideas mentioned are actual ones I've been tossing around in my head. And, inevitably, no matter where the idea starts, it eventually turns into a big set-up for getting Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie together. As water inevitably flows towards the sea, so too does my writing inevitably seem to lead to Rainbow Pie.
I'm not sure I can add much to this given how many story ideas have involved me going back to my OTP, though *THINK* I dragged some of them away from that.
Voices talking to you? Only one thing to do then!

If ever I try to come up with story ideas, I have the exact same problem.
One of my 2 uploaded stories started with the idea of wanting to have two ponies sing one of my favourite songs. Instead of thinking up a probable chain of events leading to this - such as getting drunk at a party and singing it - all I could think of was RD and Pinkie going on multiverse adventures, in one of which they sing the song.
Whether I thought of having the adventures first or having RD and Pinkie sing I don't know, but in my mind, one cannot go without the other. My brain seems geared towards that pairing.
You know how a young filly's magic is sorta random and uncontrolled?
what if Pinkie or RD messed with one of Twi's experiments and caused all the unicorns in Ponyville to lose control of their magic; resulting in their magic listening to their every whim.
Chaos and lots of fun ensues.
Actually planning on something like that myself.

Listen, I think it would be great for you to write another romance story, especially Rainbow Pie. It's a great ship, and I'd like to see a lot more of it.
I think the Applejack one sounds pretty awesome, and I doubt anyone's going to be sad over a little RainbowPie subplot.
Do need a story idea? I've got a non-shipping one I like too see...
Do *you* need a story idea? I've got a non-shipping one *that* I like too see...

Great, you can't reply here and I can't send PMs...
Anyway; the idea I have is for an extension on the talent show scene from The Show Stoppers, Sunny Days and Peachie Pie poetry on roller skates. Just a simple lighthearted short story for you to practice prose and poetry on without any shipping.
