Art Update 4! (should probably stop doing this till I'm done. · 5:49pm Nov 29th, 2016

Last one of these till next chapter.
Wanted to know if i better conveyed the curve of the ship.

Yeah, she has curves! Aurora Dancer is a cylinder (not including the turrets and towers and stuff) with her front end pinched to a vertical edge (the right side).

Some other info:

Those blue bits are to indicate where thrusters are.
The Yellow mario coin looking things are emergency hatches.
The light gray is to indicate a soft turn or edge.
Those red bits aren't windows, but large cameras. under them is a thick layer of armor.
The circles with 2 sticks sticking out, or the half circles with the four pixels attached, are all her AA turrets. The quadruple 40mm flak guns.

Not pictured here:
her large collection of 20mm rotary CIWS's Honestly, due to their size. I probably won't show them until I up the resolution a bit. Not because you couldn't see them, but because they'd be hard to make out and other than the side hull, it'd really hard to tell them apart from other stuff.

2-4 (I haven't decided): Scout shuttles. (the thing on the back is a catapult, to get they away from the ship in an emergency situation. Shields in this universe are different, in that they can always defeat one hit, no matter the size. So sometimes in longer ranged engagements, shuttles will act as a screen, tanking one hit with their shield's, and then retreating behind the ship. They typically have one "blip" drive. An undirected FTL jumper, that will drop them in space some distance ahead of where they were facing (a fixed amount), unlike normal directed FTL drives, that can go in any direction, and be controlled as to how far.

1.) whyis it a cylinder
2.) why are there these super structures when you cant go out side,

1.) because a flat surface is a big ole "HIT ME HERE" sign. And because this is in large part inspired by space battleship yamato.
2.) because I like them, and because this is a space ship version of a WWII ship.
3.) hugs?

Sorry, my eyesight is so bad it took me several times before I realised there were little yellow things, after I read about them, and even the red bits took me a couple times to spot.

If a shield can tank any one hit, and there can be multiple shield carrying scout, drones, why would anyone go for a large single shot gun except to take out planets? Then you get into the argument as to a scout shield tanking a planet killer due to game reasons?

4322484 There are exceptions to every rule. Usually the issue is when the object being shielded against is larger than the object projecting the shield. a shuttle's shield won't stop a planet. But for the most part, single shot main weapons are largely obsolete, with ships carrying a battery of somewhat decent sized guns (the guns on the main turrets are 6 inch triple gun sets, she has a total of 24 of those suckers).

And I never said that they could tank any hit twice. And of course there are practical concerns. Fueling that many independent craft, and getting them in place to actually catch a shot, without being cut off from retreating afterwards prohibits them acting as a replacement for shields on the ship itself. The cost of creating a shield projector favors putting good ones in things that won't get blown away in the second exchange of fire.

This is the reason why ships have a collection of main guns of ship to ship capacity, rather than just one huge one (or a few decent sized ones and one big one), it's a trade off between being rapid fire enough to overwhelm a shield, and large of caliber and hard hitting enough to rip through armor properly. Having one big weapon at all just means the enemy will save one last charge in the capacitors of the shields, and wait for you to waste it.

Related Note: The general strategy for carrier aerospace fighters is to close in, get your attack off, make a hard turn to some direction 90 degrees from where you were facing (any unit with experience would have some radio alert to set which direction), activate your blip drive, and then head back to the carrier the hard way. Their most vulnerable moment is on way back to a carrier.

Oh yah now I can definetly see dimension. She certainly is pretty and detailed. It really does have the spaceship vibe now and with depth and, well, dimension.

4322612 Some day far in the future, I will recreate her image again using shipbucket.com/Real%20Designs/United%20States%20of%20America/CL-81%20Houston%201944.png
as a base.

4322484 Also, the image is larger than shown. Just right click on it and "open image in new tab."

if u pay me i will make your model 34....

4323655 i did not type that?
the 34 i mean

4323704 look at your own comment. You typed 34. Did you mean 3d?

4324040 OH yes thats what i ment, sorry been sick the last few days.

4324352 Unfortunately, I am broke. Maybe in a few months when (hopefully) I'll have a job.
