Making a blog on On We Go - What's it about? · 8:19pm Nov 21st, 2016
So yesterday, I released an animated intro for an upcoming story of mine, On We Go. This blog will basically describe what it's going to be about.
The story will be set in the alternate "Crystal War" universe seen in season 5. However, it will be set a few months following the end of the war - and a few months after a plague laid waste to civilization.
Initially going to be second person, the story will now be first person, deviating between the main character (unnamed and not described much in design) and Rainbow Dash, both former soldiers of a national extension of the Royal Guard, called the Royal Service.
Set in the aftermath of the Crystal War and the outbreak of the Crystal Plague, Rainbow rescues the other from death. After they understand their situation, they both traverse what's left of Equestria in hopes of finding a sanctuary where they can survive in peace.
The first chapter will give a bit of background on the war, and the events leading up to the main story. The second chapter will start off in the POV of one of the characters. Every once in a while, it will deviate back and forth. I'll either have it deviate every chapter (Soldier Boy Chapter 2, Dash Chapter 3, Soldier Boy Chapter 4, etc.), or I'll switch during some point into a single chapter.
So yeah, this story's going to be a postwar/post-apocalyptic fic with the intention to work on character development and storytelling - two things I need to work on a lot. Not saying I'm a shit writer, but it's always nice to improve on things, regardless of how good you are. :)
I'm currently working on the first chapter, which might finish around 3000-4000 words. I plan on releasing the first three chapters once they're finished, then work on the next three, just to keep a pattern going. I'm probably going to try to keep the story short, perhaps around 15-20 chapters, maybe even less. That way, it doesn't end up being 90% filler and 10% story (looking at you, AMC).
