I saw some terrific analysis in this one. Back when the original SW films came out, there were parents who actually encouraged the younger audiences to see the films or other ancillary material that the parents grew up with.

If we take a look at the opening of THE PRINCESS BRIDE for example, the opening features Peter Falk's character explaining to a kid (Fred Savage) that this was a book his father used to read to him and one that he also read to the kid's father, and one that he was now about to read to the kid.

Whatever happened to the folks that said, ''This is something I used to watch when I was your age [fill in the blank, if necessary] and one that I now want you to watch''? Where did they go?

The movie is good in it's own right...BUT, it destroys a mountain of novelia put out relating to after ROTJ that was approved by George and was organised amongst the writers so all books fitted to together with continuity assured. The REAL fans still believe in the approved bookverse, the movieverse has died!:twilightangry2:
