Hey guys, I just wanna talk to you for a minute.
Now I am a week late into this, but this is something I want to discuss with you guys. The election was not too long ago. Many people are happy with the results, many people are displeased. To be honest, I disliked both candidates equally.
But I did my duty and I voted. That's all I can do. If you voted, you have done your part.
The nation's response has been mixed. People are pleased with the outcome, others are not that pleased.
I understand if you don't like the outcome. I really do, but here's the thing: I have been seeing people bitch and moan on twitter and facebook lately about the results. What good does that do? If you don't like it, take action. And I don't mean riot! That doesn't help either. Peacefully protesting, you can do that, but what good will it do?
If you really want to make a difference in the wake of this election, here's what I suggest:
1) Donate to charities and organizations that can benefit the nation, other nations and maybe yourself. Whether it be donating to PETA, and environment organization, a pro-LGBT organization, what ever, that can help. It shows you care and you are willing to make a mark in some way.
2) Getting involved. And I mean in a political way. If you want to get experience, be an intern for a public or government office. After you get experience, run for office. Mayor, Representative, Senator, governor, a director, maybe even Head of State. This shows you are willing to change this nation for the better. Getting involved in politics can be stressful, but if you want to change the nation and make an impact, it's gonna take some hard work.
3) Don't bitch and moan on social media. Seriously, what good is saying: "Bernie should have been the nominee" on Facebook. Seriously, it doesn't help.
But here is the real kicker: with all of this going on, the nation is so divisive. Heck, the results have made us become monsters. Trump supporters calling their Hillary supporting friends "retards" or "idiots", Hillary supporters calling their Trump supporting friends "bigots" and "racists". It breaks my heart, it really does. Where is the love? I hate seeing my Facebook feed and skype group so divided because of these results. I just want people to get along, but of course, that's easier said than done.
So I want to ask a favor to you guys: just take time to understand each other. Love each other. If someone disagrees with you on something, don't be quick to retort. Ask what about this issue makes them think that way. Have a healthy, non hasty dialogue. Be unbiased while you're listening to them. Don't call someone stupid if their viewpoints differ yours. And don't hate someone because they have a different opinion. You're allowed to disagree with them, but don't resort to hating them because of that opinion. It's not right.
I still need to learn how to do this myself. But I do think this is the path we should take.
So please, for my sake and yours, love each other and respect each other. Love will win it all. I just want to give you guys a hug and say that regardless of who you are or what you believe in, I love you and you should love each other. Thank you.
'til next time!

If you disliked both candidates equally, didn't voting just add to the random factor?
4301272 oh I voted third party
4301334
That is fine then. You voted edge.
I didn't read the whole post, but thank you so much for making this and I agree with a lot of what I read.
