The Life and Times of Amber Spark!

    Hello, my long-lost friends!

So, you’re probably wondering what the flipping heck happened to me. After all, the last real post I did, aside from the money stuff and a Hearth’s Warming post, was apparently 82 weeks ago, in September of 2021.

Looking for Some Help With Top/Bottom Surgery!

Hey folks! I know it's been forever and I promise I'll provide an update on where everything is in the near future. But today, I'm gonna ONCE AGAIN ask for financial help. And this one is only for me. I'm not going to use my girls or anything to try and guilt you into helping. Moving on past that BS.

    Hearth's Warming Thoughts 2021

I know a lot of you have friends and family to be with this holiday. I also know a lot of you are struggling this holiday with (sometimes former) friends and family who refuse to accept you for who you are. I know I am. Some of you are alone in a room, some of you are alone in a crowd. And some of you have people who accept you.

NaNoWriMo Week 1: Boop · 10:53pm Nov 6th, 2016

Seriously. That Animated Short was awesome. And the presentation during the opening ceremonies? Beyond epic. The moment the “Global Launch” retrospective glitched, I knew what they were doing and basically had this expression.

But that’s not what you’re here for! You’re here for National Novel Writing Month, so let’s get some numbers!

Title: Wavelength Theorems
By: Novel Idea

Current Word Count: 13,478
Daily Average: 2,246

Word Count Total by Day
Day 1: 3111
Day 2: 5492
Day 3: 8606
Day 4: 8606 (BlizzCon Day 1)
Day 5: 8606 (BlizzCon Day 2)
Day 6: 13478

Today’s been my best day so far. I’ve done nearly 5,000 words. It’s interesting. I tend to do a lot of mindscapes: virtual environments/visions that occur entirely within a character’s head. But when I’m in there, the words tend to come really easily. I’m not quite sure why. Probably because those are pure character development sequences (well, they usually are).

Now, if you're curious, below is my actual word counter. The word count in there includes all of the short stories, novels, novellas and novellettes written in the Wavelengths Timeline, so that's why the number is so high.

So, I also promised you a short tidbit from Wavelength Theorems itself. Now this is a bit tricky. I need to do something that won’t spoil any of the stories I have planned or even the overall plot of Wavelengths itself. So ouch!

Please note that these will almost certainly change before final launch. They are completely raw and unedited. I only scanned through them to make sure that they didn’t have any spoilers in them.

Except from Wavelength Theorems - Chapter 13: Storms

How dare you strike against the Princess of the Night?” Luna boomed with a voice that shook the very rocks beneath Twilight’s hooves. “Pay for your intrusion, you insolent whelps!”
Moonfire exploded out from Luna in a massive tidal wave of soft white light. It crashed toward the oncoming griffons and to Twilight’s shock and horror, none of them turned away.
They passed right through the blast of moonfire without getting a single feather out of place. But the light did allow one thing… it allowed Twilight to see them clearly for the first time.
They wore armor. Enchanted armor, if the glowing runes and sigils etched into the silvery surface meant anything. Interlocking plates of thin metal that covered them from front to back, leaving only their eyes and wings open to the sky.
The leader let out a squawk of a laugh as she dive-bombed the stunned Princess. The laugh was short lived as a black-armored pegasus came rocketing out of the forest behind them and body-checked the griffon, sending the enemy spiraling past Luna to crash against the cliffside of the ravine.

I’m also very happy to report that The Alchemy of Chemistry is on target (/stay-on-target-meme) for launch tomorrow at 10AM Pacific! You’ll get the first chapter, “Principles of Reaction” and see the beginning of the Origins Arc for the very first time. Special thanks for Ebon Quill and Little Tinker for their hard work on this. Of course, extra special thanks go to Painted Heart, my wife (because, you know, it’s like required and stuff).

But a super-extra-special thanks goes to none other than the great and powerful champion of the AppleDash shipper, Tchernobog, who offered invaluable advice with a completely clean readthrough last week. I’d worked too closely to the story and I needed to know if all the arcs worked and he came through in a big way.

(PS, I’m still working on him getting to write something new or finish a story. Pester him a bit and maybe we can wear him down. It’s worth a shot.)

Let’s see… a couple housecleaning things!

I’ve released a much-revised cover for Grading on a Bell Curve that captures the story in a much better light (literally!) with a new background, new colors on the bell curve itself and new fonts, even the new Wavelengths story title. You can take a look below.

I also slammed together a few more new covers this week because I needed a break. Heh. I’ve now designed 4/6 of Tchernobog’s covers. Weird, huh?

Well, I need to get my audible edits for Alchemy done. These are my last polish edits before I finalize the story. So, I’ll see you all tomorrow for the launch of The Alchemy of Chemistry!

By the way, if you're interested in doing NaNoWriMo and you're doing pony words, you can participate in National Pony Writing Month, hosted by Equestria Daily! We've set up both a Skype and a Discord chat for after you're with your word count. However, you'll want to contact Vic by the 15th, so make sure to let him know if you want to be entered into the drawing!

Finally, some folks asked for some BlizzCon pics! So here's a tiny smattering of them!

NaNoWriMo, fun. I got a few days' late start (8774 now), but I've always wanted to do something like this, so am probably gonna go for it anyway! Best of luck!

That's a lot of words! Especially considering we've seen only a fifth of it yet. Previous posts have shown that, but the actual word count drives the point home.
Thanks for giving an update.
And thanks for the pics from Blizzcon, too.
Cam't wait for the update in the evening (Yay, Eastern European Time). Have a great day, Novel-Idea!

4288569 DO IT. DO IT. DO IT NAOW. :yay:
4288588 Well, Wavelength Theorems itself has about 85,000 words done. Sparks is also mostly complete at its first draft at around 50K. Bards has 26K. And Prerogative has 10K done (though it'll likely be rebooted entirely). So that's about 171,000 words that are done but you haven't seen yet. :unsuresweetie:

...I may need help of a psychiatric nature.

Wait, why the psychiatric help:rainbowhuh:? It's a really big project , but you seem to be doing well from outsider's PoV.
and Wavelength Theorems is the last story in the setting at the moment, correct?

i am also really confused about Sweetie Bell emoticon...
16128+12178+21924+8945+ around 30k of Alchemy of Chemistry = around 89-90k

Sorry if it was a joke and i mistook it for something it wasn't.

4296907 Wavelengths is indeed the final capstone story of the timeline, however, I've got about 12 stories that have to be written before any of you folks get to see that one. So in fact, that number will probably double if not more (probably a lot more).

And yes, it was a joke.

:rainbowlaugh:

4295958 I am! It's awesome! I caught up and am almost 6000 words ahead!

I should probably sign up for the EqD thing now.

4298823 Congrats! Make sure to get it in before the 15th! :pinkiehappy:
