Ciderfest day 3 recap: All good things... · 4:43am Oct 31st, 2016
At least I grabbed some cider on my way out.
Day 3 finished strong. I got to talk a fair bit with new buds Kwirky, Shuri, and Pancake. The morning's X-Wing demo was flippin' epic, and featured a white-knuckle game with tons of back-and-forth action, where a new player narrowly edged-out my GLORIOUS IMPERIALS with their REBEL SCUM.
Right before I left, I got the chance to make a fool of myself one more time, because some poor DJ made the mistake of playing Gangnam Style over by the little dancefloor they had running, and I can't not get up and dance like an idiot to Gangnam Style. Of course, about halfway through, I discovered that someone was recording. Oh well; I'll post a link so you can mock me when/if the incriminating footage surfaces.
Overall, dis was gud con. It was lots of fun, I learned some new games, there were great chances to meet people... I couldn't have asked for much more.
Ah well. Sleep now. Back to the daily usual tomorrow.
*envy reaches critical levels*
Jealousy part 3: Jealousy... IN SPACE!

I'm sorry for makin' you guys jealous. Honestly, I was just super excited to go hang out and do the pony thing for a solid weekend, and I want to gush about it at someone, and I don't really have anyone around here who will tolerate much of that.
My wife and I have also had a tough time making friends where we live, and it's wonderfully reaffirming to be able to meet new people outside our area and make some relatively quickly. Like, we never had so much trouble making friends elsewhere. Oh well; we keep talking about moving, and maybe someday we'll do more than just talk about it.

I'm not THAT jealous. And are you really thinking of moving

Where to?
4279280 honestly yeah. I've wanted to for a long time, but my wife really didn't until about a year ago. It's not all bad, of course, so we both have some doubts, and uprooting the whole family is tricky in itself.
The thing is, we've just had rotten luck maintaining friendships around here. I used to think it was just us, and that we could change things if we tried harder. But as time's gone on, we've noticed that the few people we've really been able to get close to aren't from here; they're imports, like us. The locals stick mostly to themselves. It all just contributes to a sense that either we're not a good fit for where we are, or it's not a good fit for us.
4279641 Possibly Utah. I'm from there, and my wife has generally liked it when we've been out there. I hear it also has the highest percentage of Bronies per capita of any state, so that could be fun too.

Oooooooh.

I see. I'm sorry to hear that. If you do move I hope you find a nice friendly place
4280249 Thank you.

Your quite welcome
Just wanted to say it was enjoyable to meet with you (and get my TIEs properly exploded just like Kuat Fleet Systems intended). Glad to see and chime in on your writing panel to boot.
See you 'round
4284522 Kwirky, it was an absolute pleasure to meet and hang out with you. Don't be a stranger.
