Filly Twilight snippet · 3:41am Oct 31st, 2016
Just a little something I had in my head for a much longer story.
“The Princess is sleeping.”
“Be that as it may little filly, I have urgent business with her highness that simply cannot wait.”
He tried to push past her, but Twilight had set her rump down on the floor and anchored herself with her magic. A normal unicorn filly trying to replicate the feat would at best manage to make her rump cling to floor like it had a sticky coating of dried jam between it and the marble. In Twilight’s case, a giant, red, cloven-hoofed monstrosity could pick the palace up and literally toss it down the mountainside and Twilight would still be in the exact same spot, in the exact same position with marble, stone, and solid bedrock in a perfectly cylindrical column directly below her for miles.
Finding that she wouldn’t be moved, the annoyed unicorn tried to lift her with his telekinesis. She was larger than what he normally lifted, but he was a fully grown and mature stallion and she was just a filly.
A look of concentration appeared on his face, a trickle of sweat dripped down his forehead, his brow scrunched as the pressure built and built as he forced more and more power into what should have been a simple task. His head bowed and his forelegs bent as he tried to scoop the filly from the floor and toss her aside.
It was only when he began to make grunting noises that twilight softly cleared her throat and said again, “The Princess is sleeping.” Her horn glowed brightly as the trickle of power she had been using to anchor herself turned into a steady stream.
The stallion’s eyes went wide as he himself began to float in the air. His legs beat frantically and his heart raced as he struggled to find purchase. He began to whimper.
She floated him over so she was looking up at him with baleful eyes. “Shh… the Princess is sleeping.”
He nodded fervently and Twilight nodded in a cute but resolute way unique to small fillies. “Good.” She set him down on his hooves, gently so as not to awaken the Princess. “If anyone would like to leave the Princess as message, I’ll be glad to take note of it.” A quill and piece of parchment floated in front of her from her saddle bag.
The nobles present all looked at each other for a few moments, shrugged, and then queued up to speak with Twilight one at a time.
Before the first noble could speak, Twilight preempted him, “And no lies. If you lie to me, I’ll know. I hate liars.”
The assembled ponies stared at the small purple filly. The small purple filly smiled.
A few of the ponies in the line politely excused themselves citing other pressing business. Those that remained were unfailingly polite and brief in their messages. They also thanked Twilight with much enthusiasm, though tried to be quiet about it after she had to remind a pony once again that the Princess was sleeping.
