Nights of Horror (October Update and ER251 News) · 5:10am Oct 25th, 2016

Damn, she's close, and freaks me out a bit.

Animatronics creep me the hell out. I hate, absolutely hate, things that move that aren't suppose to be moving by themselves. I don't care if they are robotic amusement friends, cars, statues, etc. If it moves on it's own malevolent will, I am getting the hell out of there. That and jump scares. So FNaF does get me really good, and I refuse to play the game. The only way I've tolerated it was watching Markiplier but not nearly as well as The Joy of Creation: Reborn. It's FNaF but it's more of an open world game play where you wander around a house and the grounds nearby. I got out of that when I watched some video of Chica chasing you in the woods like Slenderman, and nearly flipped my desk over with the jump scare. Just, no. Hell no.

But it is the glorious time of year for such frights, and a celebration of all sorts of horror (and candy). Unless you are Fluttershy.

In celebration, I have a new shelf in by library, appropriately titled "Horror", and wanted to share what I considered to be the very best of the bookshelf is on display on my wall. There are a couple of mature rated stories in there. My tastes are a little different from the normal horror fan. I enjoy the rare psychological horror, aside from animations bolting down upon you to kill you, and not the gore side of things. Gore is fine, but it has no effect on me. What does is situations that trick the brain, making the situation seem even scarier, or just crazy stuff going on. Like the whole "you feel like something is behind you, hairs standing straight up on the back of your next, you hear something and when you turn around, you're alone" sort of deals. So most of the shelf is geared towards that, with the exception of Rainbow Factory which has nostalgic value for me. It was the first MLP fanfic that I read and got me into the fandom. I also haven't read Researcher Twilight yet, but preemptively added it from recommendations from a close friend.

Do you have any good MLP horror stories you enjoy? Let me know, I'm looking for some good ones.

Now for some truly exceptional news. ER251 Chapter 3 has been fully edited by Autumnschild, who knocked the heck out of that last night. I am, unfortuently, working at this time and haven't seen the edits, aside from the fact that he got to the end of the chapter. Wednesday, I am planning to sit down and work on the story for a while, but it might be delayed in being updated to next week. First reason, it needs to be perfect and attention paid to details. There may or may not be a ER250 conflict within it, just a minor note of Sapphire's background, that needs to be clarrified. The second reason is that it is that time of year for me to go to Arizona.

For those that don't know, I go to Arizona with some frequency during the winter months. I am leaving Thursday for that and to go to the NHRA Drag Races in Las Vegas. My grandparents go down there, and we have gone down there too and have a second house my Dad and my Uncle own. We also have a couple of Polaris RZRs we like to take out, literally from my grandparents backyard and into a wash into the Arizona desert. It is a wonderful time to spend with them and my family.

Being in Arizona is also huge booster for me when it comes to writing. Some truly golden stuff happens while I write down there, it's like my... "zen" place. I don't know how to describe it other than I make a ton of progress on my writing during those times. The last few times, and I'm not expecting a difference this time, is that I have zero internet down there. 4G on my phone is sketchy too, and very unreliable. So I'll copy a few stories I'll be working on and hopefully get a new story out of this trip.

Something Sweet to Bite is really good, if you can get through some (necessary) gore.

Herald by ShortSkirtsandExplosions is really good, too.

Years back in Tuscan Arizona there used to be a dude ranch called the Lazy K. Dad took me there severse years running and there was this small doll on a mantle I swore changed positions everyday. No one else saw it but I did. Still remember it decades later.

The gore isn't much of an issue, it just has little effect on me. I'm use to it, in a way. Violent movies, video games, etc, and time working in an ER as sort of numbed me to some of it. That being said, the Applejack part with the caramel and the cauldron horrified me immensely, and the story has a wonderful creepy factor to it. Herald was good, but had so much of a Silent Hill vibe that I called it out within the first chapter. But it was still a very good and thrilling story with the way the pegasi were acting. Thank you for recommending these two to me.
