it does that if the chapter has ever been unpublished and it is now being re-published, even if that all took place before the story was approved. so, say if you had the entire thing available for editor access, then hid all but the first chapter, when you unhide the other chapters it won't count as an "update". Also, it'll show the chapter update in anyone's feed timestamped with the original date, so it'll be buried... yup, a week ago

I had to mess around with the chapter before I published the story. Huh. I've been around since 2012 and I wasn't aware of that bug. You learn something new every day.
