I'm older than your average brony, but then I've always enjoyed cartoons. I'm an experienced reviewer, EqD pre-reader, and occasional author.

Pascoite gets bored and reviews anime, vol. 68

I started way too many new shows this season. D: 15 of them, plus a few continuing ones. Now my evenings are too full. ;-; Anyway, only one real feature this time, a 2005-7 series, Emma—A Victorian Romance (oddly enough, it's a romance), but also one highly recommended short. Extras are two recently finished winter shows plus a couple of movies that just came out last week.

Pascoite gets bored and reviews anime, vol. 67

Spring season starts today, though that doesn't stock my reviews too much yet, since a lot of my favorites didn't end. Features this week are one that did just finish, A Sign of Affection, and a movie from 2021, Pompo: The Cinephile. Those and more, one also recently completed, and YouTube shorts, after the break.

Pascoite gets bored and reviews anime, vol. 66

Some winter shows will be ending in the next couple of weeks. It's been a good season, but still waiting to see if the ones I like are concluding or will get additional seasons. But the one and only featured item this week is... Sailor Moon, after the break, since the Crystal reboot just ended.

I don't typically like to have both featured items be movies, since that doesn't provide a lot of wall-clock time of entertainment, but such is my lot this week. Features are Nimona, from last year, and Penguin Highway, from 2018. Some other decent stuff as well, plus some more YouTube short films, after the break.

    Time for an interview

FiMFic user It Is All Hell asked me to do an interview, and I assume he's going to make a series out of these. In an interesting twist, he asked me to post it on my blog rather than have him post it on his. Assuming he does more interviews, I hope he'll post a compilation of links somewhere so that people who enjoyed reading one by

New story: Ambergris · 11:15pm Oct 13th, 2016

I guess this is the kind of thing I'd usually put in an author's note or something, but for some reason, I just didn't want to. So, anyway, obviously this new story is out. It means a lot to me, and I had a lot of fun writing it. It's been quite a while since I wrote something new instead of revising something old and unpublished. And seeing it finally go live feels... bad. I don't have that anticipation anymore. It'll get some attention for a few days, then float off down to obscurity. And it'll take a fair amount of work to put in enough back story to make original fiction out of it. Oh well.

I went out of my comfort zone on this one, and I like the result, but of course I would, so I passed it through a couple of trusted friends (Dubs Rewatcher and Present Perfect) first. PP in particular gave me the encouragement I needed to write it in the first place after I pitched the idea and basic plot but said I didn't know if I could do it justice. And expressed that I thought I'd have a hard time getting even as long as 4k words. So... I really missed on that estimate.

I have to give credit where credit is due. I'll refer you to this blog post of Bad Horse's in lieu of giving all the details. Suffice it to say there's a story Bad Horse really liked but that I found very unsatisfying, and Bad Horse and I talk quite a bit about what we were looking for in it. The author, very trustworthy rodent is definitely not a bad writer. It's not that I found the story poorly written, just that I found its events inconsequential, but Bad Horse found great meaning of a very subtle type, and the author pretty much did accomplish what his goals were with it.

Just talking about the story got me thinking about the Dazzlings and their character dynamics, and then I came up with this idea. It's not at all a swipe at very trustworthy rodent, not one of those fixfics or "this is how it should have been done" things. It's simply that his story got me thinking, and that's a good thing. Have a look at it and judge for yourself. You might like it. His story, that is. Of course, I'd like it if you read mine, too.

so glad I could help :D

Being in a class that has a focus on literacy fiction, this story was refreshing for me in a way that helps me learn more about lit fiction. The story is very well done, I assure you.

..still haven't seen Equestria Girls 2 yet :twilightblush: I'll read it once I do.

I don't have that anticipation anymore

Do you mean for every story now, or just this one?

4255045 Just this one. I invested a lot into it, but that doesn't come to completion until it's published, and now that's over.

Ah. Well, I am really sorry to hear that, but I am happy you're not losing your drive to write.
