Stories I am not allowed to write · 2:20am Jan 31st, 2012
Ideas for stories pop into my head on a fairly frequent basis. Some are good; some are mediocre. I run them by my collaborators to see which ones have the most appeal, and proceed with those.
Then there are these. For the sake of posterity, here are the ideas Drakmire says I cannot turn into stories:
In the Shadow of the Castle
Crossover/Adventure
A 9/11 crossover story. Al Poeni fundamentalists hijack a dragon and fly it into Canterlot Keep, killing hundreds of ponies in the worst terrorist attack ever on Equestrian soil. Princess Celestia declares war on the rogue nation of Alpacastan, where the orthodox Camelban have established a brutal, medieval regime that harbors the terrorists and their leaders.
The love interest is provided by Luna and Twilight, who are sitting next to each other on the dragon when it is hijacked.
And Justice for All
Normal
Truthteller is your typical earth pony, who only wants to help make Equestria a better place. However, when he applies for a job teaching young foals at the Ponyville Elementary School, his application is rejected because of his special talent and cutie mark: waterboarding. Together with his lawyer Ambulance Chaser, Truthteller appeals to the Equestrian High Court for an end to cutie mark discrimination.
Includes a flashback scene explaining how he got his cutie mark.
Clipped
Normal/Sad
After nearly destroying the Ponyville town hall for the third time, Derpy Hooves finally gets hauled in for treatment. Based on the advise of several leading pony psychologists, Mayor Mare agrees it's time for Derpy to have her wings clipped. But what will life be like for everyone's favorite ditzy mailmare, now that she's grounded?

Pure gold, right? How could you not like these ideas? Send complaints to Drakmire.
There is not a harsh enough stare of disapproval to convey my thoughts on these matters. What's worse is that you seem to come up with these things when proofreading my writing, so I can only imagine that I'm somehow to blame here.
-.-
Controversial ideas. I can imagine some novice hack making a mess of one of these, tripping all over himself to be profound, but you are not some novice hack. Frankly, I think any of these topics could make for a memorable and compelling story in your hands, and I can't imagine why you wouldn't write them.
I feel like I see the same story in the archives over and over again. "Dude goes to Equestria, dude finds a pony IRL, so-and-so ships with so-and-so, somepony dies and leaves her friends all sad-like." The promise of something unusual, especially by one of the community's pillar authors, is an attractive notion. Why anyone would try to stifle your imagination is beyond me.
It's not like you're a politician.
