Rainbow Factory: The Blackest Night Update · 4:39pm Sep 23rd, 2016
Greetings Gotham, Joker here! Well, my pre-viz notebook writings for Rainbow Factory: The Blackest Night are going well, but I think I want to recruit VampDash as co-author and The Narwhal Assassin as editor. In any case, I have a plan to make a few alternations to Scootaloo's Black Lantern persona...identity...powers... ring... thingy. These alterations are caused by an electrical surge that hits the ring as it passes through the Rainbow Factory's storm cloud barrier, BEFORE IT GETS TO SCOOTALOO'S BODY, I might add. These alterations are as follows: Scootaloo's Black Lantern develops a personality similar to that of Jason Todd/Red Hood, she also gains the ability to absorb souls to fuel her ring, something that ties into her desire to feed on emotions, she can also make her Black Lantern uniform appear and disappear at will, and feel her own emotions, at the cost of draining her ring. Other than that, Scootaloo's ring works just fine, she can still regenerate and make constructs (show of comments, who wants to see Scootaloo do this to Rainbow Dash, considering what she's done?):
Now, as far as villains for the series go, the opening story will feature Rainbow Dash as the main villain, but at this time, I'm not sure who the other bad guys will be. Also, I'm planning on giving Scoots and her fellow Equestria Black Lanterns their own oath. Here's what I've got so far:
In darkest day, In Blackest Night
We are reborn from the shadows to protect the light
Anybody have any suggestions? Also, which song would be a better fit for Scootaloo in this story? This:
Or this?
That's all for today, kiddies! Remember: dying is easy, comedy is hard!
I didn't care for either Blackest Night or Rainbow Factory myself.
Well, on the song suggestion question... I prefer the Sonic The Hedgehog music. I haven't picked it just because I prefer Sonic compared to (whatever that other thing is), it's just because I think Mephile's theme has a sense of creepiness, eeriness, and questioning all at the same time.
I says Gaster's battle theme over Sonic
Also...
This doesn't work.
The problem with the first line is that it follows the same basic pattern as the Green, Yellow and Blue oaths without working as well. Instead of having contrast between the light and the dark, the oath only has dark.
And the second line, while adequately doing its job, is too long, and unwieldy. Just a few too many syllables. And the composition itself doesn't exactly let the line roll off the tongue.
I think you're limiting yourself by sticking to the template of the Green oath.
Don't be afraid to add or subtract lines from the standard four line stanza. And try experimenting with rhyming suffixes besides 'ight.'
Making your oath too similar to the canonical versions will only encourage people to draw comparisons between yours and them. And unless you do EXTREMELY well, you are not going to do better than DC in that regard.
And this goes without saying, but just in case, i will also say that if there isn't a special need for an oath, it might be best if you didn't include one. But of course, I don't actually know how that story's structured.
If you need help thinking of an oath, PM me. I have some small experience with poetry.
Gaster theme... or at least go with SharaX's version of Gaster's theme. That would fit better, in my opinion.
Or perhaps the Waters of Megalovania or an orchestral version of Megalovania...
Besides, Rainbow Dash would most certainly be having a very... BAD TIME... wouldn't you agree?
Oh, or even this! : [youtube=eLcqvTxDk18]
