A Word to My Readers

Hey all.

I just wanted to give out a little bit more than I usually do when it comes to my fics. Since the most recent chapter was in response to a user post, I felt that you all deserved to know a bit more as to how that particular chapter was shaped.

First of all, what I said in the one response post was true at that point; I had no intention of bringing Rainbow Blitz into this story. I had already had an idea as to the role he was going to occupy. As I started writing the scene, I realized something. Instead of making him a deadbeat dad, I thought that making him a repentant yet torn father that was essentially caught between a dragon and a hydra. That's why I ended up with him actually being able to be there for his family, as his own father is no longer an issue.

As far as Twilight's parents are concerned, I actually toyed with the whole 'I don't like the fact that my daughter is in a homosexual relationship because it's not traditional' for awhile before deciding to scrap it. I decided that I wasn't going to go the route of making Twilight's parents unwilling to accept her choices; however, I still wanted to show that there was some struggle there. That's why both Rainbow Blitz's and Night Light's fathers sound so similar; it's basically the same character model. And a quite shallow one as well, which is why they won't be making an appearance.

Sweet Breeze's appearance was a fortuitous accident. I had originally decided to go with Swift Breeze, the pegacorn Rainbow and Twilight met in Mareago (see LRSF for details). However, once I realized that I made a mistake with the name, I made the decision to just make her another pegacorn. I went even further, and made them sisters. Like most of my characters, both girls have pretty much played the roles I wrote them for, so don't expect to see them again until much later. I'd go into more details, but, ya know, spoilers, as Pinkie would say.

As I stated in the Author's Note for Chapter Eighteen, I have more in the works. This is actually something of a two-part chapter bloc, without actually being named a two-part chapter bloc. The reason why is because I've been trying to cut back on the length of each chapter; it's easier to manage each one if I keep a lower word count. That means more chapters, but there will be less filler in each chapter.

For those of you that have been anxiously waiting for Nightingale to show up again, you won't have to wait long; she'll be making an appearance soon. I'm not sure if it will be the next upcoming chapter or not, as I haven't planned it that far. Hopefully she will, as she's a critical player in this story.
