Clarity

In going over a few things, I realize that it makes little sense that Sunset and Moondancer are marefriends in the tagged fic, despite the fact that Sunset should be several years older.

Well, she is, but Dancer isn't all that off. Even though she's closer in age to Twilight, she was still at least a year and a half Twilight's senior. In age at least; Twilight had naturally skipped a few brackets due to her being such a dedicated student.

I'm also aware that only two years before the Summer Sun Celebration in season one isn't enough to account for the length of time Sunset spent at Canterlot High. That's something I'll have to address in a later fic.
