My thoughts on 40K fics

I saw a 40K fic in the feature box this morning, which set my brain a ranting.

I may not like GW ( the entire company can burn to the ground for all I care ) but I still love the 40K mythos/fluff. But that's also what makes me frown at all these 40K / Pony crossover fics. Especially if they involve any of the Space Marine Legions.

Certain crossovers require a high level of artistic license or suspension of disbelief. And then there are some that, in my personal opinion, simply do not mix. In this case 40K and MLP. They are as far on the opposite sides of the spectrum as you can possibly get.

No self respecting Imperial force would ally itself with Equestria. Especially not the Adeptus Astartes ( space marines ). They would look at ponies as Filthy Xenos. Worse, since ponies possess magic they would considder them corrupted servants of chaos and perform an Exterminatus on the planet before you could say: friendship is magic. It makes it nearly impossible for me to read any 40K fics that involve humans.

Now if were talking ponies as space marines, ( Space Mare-ines ) or simply the imperium, thats another matter. That type of fic I can easily accept as an alternate universe fic. Celestia as the god emperor? sure I can dig that.

But a Space marine chapter somehow landing on equus and protecting the ponies.. yeah I'm gonna say nope to that. The Imperium takes Xenophobia to the ultimate extreme. They would sooner blow their own brains out than make friends with talking magical equines. The moment the person in charge would decide they should protect these innocent natives is the moment where he summarily gets his brains blammed out by his second in command ( or the local commisar ) for HERESY.

Anyway this is just me ranting since today its too freaking hot to do anything productive. So take my opinions with a helping of salt.

Twilight would still make an awesome Chaos Sorcerer.
