Day 4: My OC’s, from Beginnings to Now. · 1:01pm Sep 4th, 2016
Remember how I said when I was younger that I wrote scripts for a TV spinoff of the Senior Project? Well, truth be told, most of my OCs come from characters in that.
Cosgrove is the best example of that. When he was first created, he was born as a hybrid of a horse and T. rex (the ones who would later be Clamp Jaw and Claire) from Atlantis (How I had it is that Atlanteans gradually mutated themselves into the mythological creatures sometime after the island sank). The description of the Human Cosgrove’s beast mode in the fictions come from there: a knuckle dragging, equid dinosaur. A few weeks after watching My Little Pony (and later Godzilla), I brought him to the Pony World, and thus his form as a Hipparion came to be. Many of his original story elements such as losing a loved one (Night Dancer today) are integrated into the story.
I already had a Land Before Time vibe in my head when I wrote the OCs Lion Tamer and Loopty Hoop. It may be subtlety, but they do act like a pair of elderly sauropods.
On Deviantart, Cogsworth's story ended with the chapter "The Edge." "Techno-Magic War" was in the thoughts for a while, but it's here that his arc as Galgameth began.
Using the Transformers faction, Maximals, for my fics, came from a more evolved version of that TV Spinoff called “The Land of Magic.” If I pitched it to Hasbro and they accepted it, then I guess it would be okay to use the name. This semi-crossover of sorts today has received mixed to positive results from you the readers. Not the best of ideas, but not bad either.
PS. It's my brother's birthday today.
