Words for the dead

Today a friend I had not spoken to in ten years reached out to me; our lives had just gone different directions. The news he brought me was sad however. A mutual friend had died the past Sunday. She was my first girlfriend and my first everything past that.

At only 34, she was dead of a blood clot.

She and I had parted on bad terms. We brought out the very worst in each other. Still, I had always hoped she was happy and successful wherever she was.
