Cart Canon

Those who follow me on Twitter likely saw a set of posts right after the recent episode where I set the canon for how the Applewood Derby would have occurred in my various stories. Here are the reproduced and explanded versions.

In TWP canon, Lucas and Rei fought over building Del's kart. Stormy and Inkie did it for her instead. Del didn't care since the teens bribed her with candy. Wanderer didn't help since Twilight and Cheerilee said it would be cheating. Del didn't win any awards, but she had a lot of fun anyway.

In SCS, Satsuma was disqualified to avoid nepotism. Freya wasn't allowed to enter. Fluttershy even kept a tight grip on her daughter while watching the race. Razzly won both fastest and most original use of fireworks. Pumpkin came in second in both of those categories and never stopped complaining. Razzly had Satsuma design her cart so that it wouldn't explode. When Pound found out that his friend designed a non-exploding cart for somepony else, he wouldn't stop complaining. Shawn sensed the other awards would go to somepony else and worked hard making the most traditional cart.

In the far future (I don't have a good name for the two time periods this covers), Dawn's kart is an uncut block of wood with racing stripes painted on it. She still wins fastest. Circe does not stop complaining. Dusk gets most traditional, having read a dozen books on the subject just during the afternoon of the race. Dawn's siren friend (I don't have a name for him still) win most original design at his school. In Ponyville, Iyokan won fastest and made his cart all by himself. Sunny also made her cart on her own, but only because her father was unavailable. Rainbow Blitz easily won fastest cloud cart in Cloudsdale.

As for Dawn's generation's kids, the few that are planned out are too young to enter. Odds are, Iyokan will try to outdo any cart Strawberry makes, but Strawberry will pretend to be oblivious to the completion, especially since Iyokan will be in Fillydelphia and Strawberry will be in Crystal Empire.
