Pokémon GO is Amazing and Disturbing! · 3:59pm Jul 11th, 2016

Micro-update: Working on two fics still outside of my Ahuizotl fic, which only updates when I need to take a break from other works. Those two projects are going slow, but steady, but I'm still not ready to roll out. Gonna try to write them 100% first and then post them up here once all the chapters are written and edited. Helps me not write myself into a corner, so please be patient!

Anywho, I went out with some friends the other day to hit up a local park/shopping area considering the place is ripe with Pokéstops and what I found were people... a lot of people. 50-100 people walking around the park playing Pokémon GO. It was a strange sense of community that I would usually feel when going to a convention, but at the same time it just felt weird. I plan on playing this game for a long time since I am very selective with my phone games. Incentive to go outside and get a good walk in every day? I'm all for getting in better shape. However, ignoring all the the weirdness of so many people playing and the criminals taking advantage of the situation, I'm really excited to see so many people, including myself, exercising. I just worry about the implications something like this is going to have on gaming.

We are all waiting to hear about the first traffic accident from people catching while driving. For the next month or so until the hype (hopefully) dies down, I'm going to be keeping an even sharper eye out for people on their phones while driving. I'm grateful that the game doesn't work very well in a car. About the only thing you can do on the highway is click a Pokémon and hope you enter battle with it. For everyone's sake, I hope drivers realize this quickly and stop playing it while driving. That being said, Pokémon GO without a doubt in my mind is going to set a legal precedence for outlawing distracted driving if people start getting into crashes because they drove past a jigglypuff and swerved to catch it.

Overall, I'm looking forward to my little mobile Pokéquest. I hope I lose a lot of weight from walking around constantly. I just wish my game didn't glitch out on the first day and botch character creation. I'm currently running around as a guy with a girl's name. Rule 63 trainers!

See, I don't like leaving my house unless I have to.
