This is the first of a series of profiles of my OCs, and I thought I'd start with the mare who started it all.

History: Ruby was born and raised in Stable 26, she had a fairly unremarkable upbringing as a result, however when she was still a filly her parents where killed in an accident in Stable 26, which caused Ruby to pour into medical studies to help ponies so no foal would ever have to go through that again. She discovered that she had a talent for it, and came under the tutelage of Nightingale, the chief medical pony for the Stable.
When Ruby was 22, her life was turned upside-down when the Choosing Ceremony occured and she was picked to leave the Stable. She entered the Wasteland in the middle of an all-out war between the New Canterlot Republic and the Crimson Empire. She has since gained allies among the NCR and has been working to help stop the threat of the Crimson Empire.
Personality: Ruby is a doctor, so she believes strongly in the idea of do no harm, as a result she tries to avoid killing if she can. She's generally a very sweet, almost meek pony at times.
Ruin's Thoughts: Ruby's primary inspiration was Velvet Remedy from Fallout: Equestria, the basic idea was to write a character who's feelings and worldview is almost antithetical to how you would normally play a Fallout game. The basic concept is that while she does use her weapons (she prefers non-lethals), she will either talk her way out of a situation, or avoid combat altogether, unless she can just knock them out, sort of my version of a pacifist run.
I have fun writing Ruby, even though she's probably not how I would act, she's a Pony who genuinely wants to help others, and chooses to be more than just another killing machine in the wasteland. Its a challenge to write sometimes, but I still like her.
Also, the fact that she has the same last name as Starlight Glimmer's first name is a weird coincidence, I named her before I got to season 5.
