...Ever Wonder if the Writers Have Read Your Fanfic?... · 6:50am May 17th, 2016
It's a rhetorical question. I mean, I guess it's possible, but very unlikely.
But DANG!, that's a description of A World Apart, is it not? No magic for most the populace, wendigos, eternal blanket of snow, "quite tragic," constant strife that consumes most their time, "neither fun nor free", being caused by a problem related to Hearth's Warming (undoing it's effects)...
Coincidental, I'm sure, but dang, I'm relishing my fantasy of being recognized by powers that be :p
I'm currently immersed in another fic idea, but you know...
I love how A World Apart has gone - what it's turned into. But I'm still not too thrilled with the earlier chapters, and I'm seriously considering re-writing it altogether at some point in the future. Many aspects will remain identical, but there's a few things I'd like to change, like the entire first (non-prologue) chapter...
Rewriting old chapters only gets one bogged down and draws away from writing new stuff. Really it is best to only rewrite when you are finished and put down that complete tag. I have seen far too many fics die due to an attempted or successful but time-heavy rewrite.
I love the concept of this sotlltory and its cool that it basically became canonish (going off what you said, I haven't actually watched the ep). I will say that the creators aren't allowed to read fanfiction because of copywrite and 'who thought it first' issues, though.
3950511 That's good to consider, but it's been so long since I've updated AWA, anyways, I'm not sure what difference it'd make at this point...
3950781 That's true about copyright, and they say that, but I suspect that's just a legal "on paper" or sort of thing. I mean, how the hay could they interact on Twitter and poke around the internet and not poke around some fanfic in their off-time? I doubt I'd have the self-control to keep at looking from fanfic just for some stupid bureaucratic legalities, especially since they're, well, writers.
Lol, wouldn't it be funny if some of them even secretly had accounts on here?
Lol, imagne: Lauren Faust quit writing pony so she could go write fanfiction. That way she wasn't beholden to Hasbro on what she could and couldn't write. Keep a lookout for re-writes of the series starting from Season 2 (half jk)
It's exceptionally unlikely when you consider that they're legally forbidden from doing so.
