Hey everyone, I got some bad news,
Since the start of 2016 I’ve been noticing a trend that I’ve done in the past. Before I began fan fiction I used to write my own original works but then by the time Pony came around I was losing interest in my original writings and switched gears and began to write fan fiction. Now I’m starting to slow down … waaaay down. And to me that’s a bad sign. This is worse than Writer’s block. This is telling me that I’m starting to change my way of thinking and changing my hobby from fan fiction to something new.
I can hear it clearly now: “What does this mean, Tiger?” Well here’s the answer. I’m losing interest in fan fiction. Any fan fiction. And the next four fanfics: The Wendigo’s Curse, Warrior, Protector, & Survivor, City Scape, and Treasured Moon & Stars 3 will be my last fanfics.
This isn’t me leaving the fandom, oh no. I’ll always be a Brony and wear that title proudly, I just won’t be in it as much as I used to. It seems that everyone I used to follow has either moved on or left the fandom all together. (There is a difference between the two mind you.) And I’ve been losing interest in the day to day activities of Bronies. To me it’s not as vibrant as it used to be, not as exciting. Not saying it isn’t exciting, it’s just not as fun as it used to be. I don’t follow the Cons anymore, I don’t listen to Brony radio, I don’t listen to the podcasts, it’s like I’m slowly moving away. I guess that does sound like I'm leaving huh? ^^'
Since the start of 2016 I’ve been changing and I’m very happy for that change. I’m growing up, I’m succeeding, and I’m ready for my life to change. I’m 23, don’t have a job (looking for one this summer), picked a career path, and ready for the trials that await me. And sadly it’s time to take on the real world and focus on my own original ideas. Not the ideas of copyrighted characters and giving them a story that could fit them.
I’ve made the choice to return to the Video Game design and since then I’ve been creating original ideas for possible video games. Thanks to my Video Game design book, I’ve been making character charts, reward systems, game styles, battle system, everything XD and I haven’t been this excited since I started writing fan fiction.
Don’t get me wrong, it was great that I began fan fiction and started posting things online. It broadened my way of writing, I made friends and they gave me ideas and support, I’ve met those that will edit my work and learn from what they changed. I learned a lot from four years ago. My main goal in all this was to give people a fun/great story to read and gain critique or even tips in getting better. Like I learned that with my writing style I’m not great with description. I just let the reader imagine the world for themselves. (Which can be good or bad :/) Then I later learn that perhaps my goal isn’t to be a Novelist but a visual artist (aka video game writing.) since I focus so much on the dialogue between characters to tell the story besides trying to describe the scene. ^^'
I probably should give it a rest. ‘XD So anyway in short, I’m going to move on from fan fiction and return to original writing. Begin to focus on the real world and move away from my fantasy world here online. Start making new characters and giving them emotions and missions, and perhaps someday, you’ll see my name, my real name XD, with a Brony shirt on, and talk about an up and coming video game that you might be excited for.
Just like fan fiction, I have so many ideas for possible video games that one of them will become a huge success. (trying to remain positive.:))
So that’s my news for you guys. I’m still going to be around just don’t expect any new fanfics from me. (besides TMS 3) Thanks for reading and thanks for understanding. Have an awesome day.
It is great to see you're maturing, dear! There's never anything wrong with shifting gears and changing things up every now and again. Don't get me wrong, I love your works here (don't really look into DA as much anymore these days sadly) but the point is you're doing what you want! As well as excelling at it!
I hate to see a lovely writer fizzle out of writing, but you've my full support hon! And game design no less!
I must admit I haven't played anything in a long while, but I've been tempted to lately... C'est la vie, non~?
