Attention Whore Season 3: The Third One · 3:04am Apr 23rd, 2016
It's absolutely that time of year again. The kiddies are all leaving school, and they need to get their jollies somehow, so they fuck around in the interest of getting people to look at them. Sometimes that involves faking terminal illnesses, critical injuries, suicide attempts, rapes, or even just parental restrictions. Sometimes that involves indignant outrage over a thing that may or may not involve the person in question, which then quickly becomes ABOUT that person anyway as they go about their histrionics. We've already got a head start this year with a case that combines faked injuries and alt self-abuse, which you may have already caught on Foal Free Press.
Here's the thing, though. About the blog. It's not gonna be here this summer.
I’ve been met in the past with concerns that these blogs might not be totally permissible by the site rules due to the name-naming call-outy nature of them. I’ve defended them with the assertion that I openly discourage ganging up on named parties and intentionally leave cases unlinked to make it harder on people who don’t listen to my discouragement. Problem is, I dunno if that’ll be enough to let it fly for a third year in a row, especially not when the site’s just filling to the brim with vindictive motherfuckers who’ll hurl reports around of they or someone they follow are mentioned in anything but a positive light. I don't THINK I'd be in a bad place if something went down, but I don't want that to be the ship that sinks me, so I'm not gonna take the chance.
So this year, I'm not putting up a blog that calls people out on whoring for attention or generating drama and updating it incrementally as the months pass and more people make more problems. I'm going to be chronicling those, sure, but I'm doing it privately, in a Google doc. And then, once the season of fuckery reaches its conclusion, the finished document will find its home as a guest piece at F2P. It would probably be more at home there anyway, and it might end up being a little more complete as a pseudo-historical archive than what the months-long gaps between articles gloss over.
As with last year, I'll gladly accept tips and nudges in the direction of any shitstorm that may have alluded me, either in the form of comments on this blog or PM's. If you do the PM thingy, I recommend coming equipped with links and/or screenshots, especially if evidence deletion is involved.
If you comment here on the blog, though... I'm upholding the same standards as previous years. I discourage direct links to hot-button issues and ABSOLUTELY discourage anyone using links that slip through the cracks as means to add fuel to the fire and either aggravate the situation any more than it's already at or starting shit in a spot where thing were already simmering down. The only problems we've had, to my knowledge, were with people coming in and starting shit on MY blogs; I'm reinforcing the same restriction as the previous blogs to make sure things stay that way.
So yeah, be on the lookout for the full compilation around the middle of September on Foal Free Press.
You know what I miss? When you actually wrote stories, instead of bitching and moaning about the attention whores and emo freaks on a site that is well-known for being a haven for attention whores and emo freaks.
3891234 ...I miss that too. Writer's block is an utter bitch, and college feels like it's draining the life out of me. Coupled with not being as devoted to the show as I used to be, I haven't had it in me for a while now.
Plus, I mean... two blogs in a week, sure, but this is the first time in MONTHS that I've just unloaded on people. This space has primarily been for riff updates, since whatever creative energy I'd otherwise have to spare is being funneled into my studio art courses and there aren't any story updates to speak of. Plus, I've had no serious desire to keep up with season 6, so there aren't recap blogs either.
Thing's not going up for like four months anyway.
Like to think I learned my lesson, lucky to be back which is due to grace of the mods. Ten days of fame and ban is not fucking worth it.
Edit: hope to actually make amends so I'm not remembered as the asshole who was an attention seeking fuck, who faked cancer.
