    My story, and why writing MLP leaves me now.... conflicted

    I think my last post was brief, so I might as well go into some detail here about my story, why I started writing mlp fanfic, and what is happening now.

    G5: OH THE IRONY...

    You know, it's really really funny... G5 has all the three tribes of ponies hating each other, and living in a modern setting centuries after FiM. I wrote about this very ideas years ago, before G5 was ever conceived of, in a story where Celestia and Luna go on a vacation incognito to the earth pony town of Coltonville, and find pony hatred and paranoia, as well as a conspiracy against unicorn

    Returning for real this time

    Okay, everybody, Paradise/Tornado here again! Yes I know it's been a year, but I needed time to recover from a ten-year burnout in writing, and it took awhile to get my creative juices flowing again. I'm putting together plans for a new story or two, though my plans for my 'big finish' story are on hold again. I hope many of you are still here, and look forward to entertaining all of you with my

On Ponyland's Dragons · 6:50pm Apr 16th, 2016

Ah, yes... the dragons. Big fire-breathing abominations, who really embody the notion of savagery and power. Most of this race of ravenous reptiles are little more than treasure-hoarding brutes, growing bigger and bigger as their piles of gold and gems do, and attacking the towns as cities of Ponyland's civilized races, looting everything and burning the inhabitants to cinders. The dark lord Tirac kept a smaller breed of them called stratadons as pets, and they ravaged equestria along with the other monster races during the Grogar wars. Even the sight of a great Dragon is enough to make a stallion ready himself for battle, and there is no greater feat for a big brother pony knight to best one of these monsters in combat.

There was a time that Dragons lived in peace among ponies- a strained peace, to be sure, but it was better than the way things are now. Under the Rule of Dragon lady Ember (for whom my own daughter is named) ponies and dragons came to a sort of understanding. The more civilized Dragons even had small 'dragon towns' inside the Equestrian cities. But there was always a sense of tension and mistrust between the two races, and that mistrust exploded after Equestria's fall. Ponies today may think relations are strained with the griffons, but the dragons are an enemy our armies will attack on sight.

Today, the dragons are ruled by Dragon Lord Grimstone, a nasty little piece of work who hates ponies with a passion. He'll allow his draconic forces to make raids and destroy Ponyland towns and cities with abandon. Fortunately, we are ready to meet this threat; big brother ponies will team up with a human dragon slaying knight whenever a dragon starts raiding, and horse and rider will launch themselves against the fire breathing behemoth in their own lair. Precision dragon-slaying training and perfect human-pony partnership usually ends up knocking these great big monsters dead on their knees. Dragon slayers have killed thousands of these horrid bests in the last few decades, making the Dragon an incredibly rare sight in Ponyland these days.

That is not to say ALL dragons are wicked, and deserve to be mounted on our castle walls as trophies. Many pygmy Dragons- ones who have not given themselves over to the greed of their race and grown to great size- abound as servants and advisors to royalty in Ponyland. Dream Valley's own spike is an example, as well as Glitterfang, Princess Silver Swirl's little companion;

Also, the great sea dragons of Hoofkaido (called longs in he Hooofkadian language) are dear friends and stalwart allies to all of Ponyland. They are posses great wisdom and powerful magic, while lacking the savage nature and evil ways of their gold-hoarding Wyrm counterparts;

Also, there are the extremely rare cases of friendly elemental dragons, such as the historic Whimsy Westherbe of Willy-nilly mountain;

These are the exceptions to the rule, however. Most dragons are evil brutes who steal anything not nailed down, and snack on princesses and maidens for the sheer fun of it. If you happen to run into one of these abominations, you'd best flee for your life!

Normally I don't agree with him, but this time tornado's right! I got kidnapped by ones of these brutes once, and had to be rescued by a big brother pony and his dragon slayer partner. Outside of sea dragons, pygmy dragons, and some elemental dragons, 'the only good fire breather is a dead fire breather'- and that quote is FROM a sea dragon about their cousins!

I think Toyotama-hime would have words with that upstart Brimstone. Empress-Matriarch of all Dragons tend to be displeased with the brutish members of her kin.
