Vegan Day 28 · 9:25am Apr 11th, 2016

29 28

Okay, so this should be day 29 of being a vegan, but on Saturday I took a day off, which is allowed according to my rules. So it's day 28 instead.

Anyway, what did I get up to on Saturday… hmmm…

» Caffè latte
» Sausage roll
» Cheese on toast
» Cheeseburger
» Easter egg that I'd saved up
» Glass of milk

Surprisingly, despite my cravings for it, I found the cheese rather lacklustre. This may have been because the only cheese we had in the house was Red Leicester, which though an interesting colour, is hardly the most exciting cheese on the planet. The meat too, was nice, but I didn't feel it was anything special.

So I think having gone back to eating meat and dairy for a day, it's actually helped me realize that those foods are not really all that special, and I can live without them quite easily.

That said, next time I have a day off, I'm going to make sure I have one of my favourite cheeses in the house, like Stilton perhaps. Chocolate will me on the menu again too. And probably a bacon-related meal, such as Spaghetti Carbonara.

Being a vegan isn't appealing to me at all. That means you can't have chocolate, right ?
Because it has milk in it.

Most dark chocolate is okay — that's basically just cocoa and sugar.

3862469 Well just be careful with that- God made us carnivores.. The human body is meant to thrive on protein and calcium that comes from meat and dairy.
Anyways good luck

3862445 You can have pansy substitute chocolate made from soy milk...

Or you know, eat normal chocolate. Whatever floats your boat.

3862864 lol!!
I agree.
I've seen vegan meals and it's a bunch of sticks.
More power to Vital Spark, but for me, I'll take a big pile of smoked ribs, a potatoes with sour cream and butter and chocolate cream pie

3862894 I'll take my pork roast with potatoes, milk, cheese, bacon, beef, and chocolate and be on my way.
(I know potatoes aren't animals or sentient, but have you ever had a roast with a side of baked taters? It'll make your mouth water I tell you what.)

3863937 oh God yes!
I made a crock pot roast once when I was shitfaced, I wrapped bacon around it and dumped a bottle of red wine - that was the best roast I ever made. If only I was t in a blackout when I made it- I could make it again

You believe potatoes aren't sentient, but can you really claim to know that?!

3864287 I was a hopeful young lad... I watched a potato grow when I was five, hoping it'd become sentient. That's when it struck me miracles don't exist...

3863998 Knowing you did that makes me respect you ten times more.

I'm a mom now, I can't behave like that anymore

3864463 Oh well... But hey, that doesn't take away that fond memory.

As a vegan, what does one do about protein?
I understand one has to eat lots of nuts?

3865389
I've been eating a lot of peanut butter, that's for sure. Legumes (peas, beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc) contain a lot of protein, including soy beans which a lot of vegan-friendly products (soy milk, tofu, etc) are made from.
