Mariusioannesp Speculates Wildly: Season 6 and More! · 3:49pm Mar 22nd, 2016

Lord, you will open my lips; and my mouth will proclaim your praise. (Psalm 51:17)

Greetings, my Brony Brethren.

I hope you all had a great Palm Sunday. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.

In less than a week, Season 6 of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will be here! Most appropriately followed by the celebration of Resurrection of Jesus Christ the next day. Anyway, we got a few bits of news last week that I’d like to speculate on before Season 6 officially begins.

First, our friendly friends at Equestria Daily revealed two full minutes from the premiere episode this Saturday!

So, that didn’t tell us much of anything that we didn’t already know. It does seem to hint at the possibility that I’m right about little baby Princess Flurry Heart being the cause of this episode’s main problem. That’s the sense I get. By now, we should have heard about the villain of the episode if there was one. It might behoove us to brace ourselves for a rather low-key premiere like Season 4’s “Princess Twilight”. But that’s not a bad sign though. Season 4 is still considered one of MLP’s best seasons so far. It might be a good thing if Season 6 starts off in a remarkably similar way.

We also got quite a bit of news regarding the first couple of episodes of Season 6.

This season’s third episode shall be titled ”The Gift Of Maud Pie”.

Season 6 Episode 3 - The Gift Of Maud Pie
Air Date: April 2nd
Synopsis:

Rarity and Pinkie Pie are in Manehattan looking for an ideal location for Rarity's new store and searching for the perfect gift for Pinkie Pie's sister.

Already this seems like an episode that has a lot going for it. Firstly, it seems to be focused on Rarity and Pinkie Pie for the most part. I’m racking my brain, and I’m fairly certain that there’s never been a previous MLP episode that just paired up Rarity and Pinkie Pie. It seems Season 6 will continue the habit of Season 5 of having episodes, especially the Cutie Map ones, focused on pairs of ponies we’ve rarely or never seen before. Secondly, Rarity and Pinkie will be looking for a location for Rarity’s new store. So, it looks like Rarity is franchising all over Equestria. Soon she will be the McDonald’s of Equestrian fashion. Good for her. Last but most certainly not least, Maud Pie! This seems like the episode where Maud Pie makes a subsequent appearance. The teaser with the swan boat I mentioned in my last predictions blog has Pinkie and Maud in what appears to be park in the middle of Manehattan. Pinkie and Maud and Manehattan. It seems like this episode. However, that teaser has Rainbow Dash in it rather than Rarity. Could this be a totally different episode than the one teased in the teaser? I mean, it’s possible Maud could be appearing in a couple of episodes this season; she appeared in two just last season. But having Maud appear in two separate episodes set in Manehattan seems like a bit of a stretch. I, for one, am up to seeing Manehattan more than once a season. I suppose anything is still possible at this point.

This season’s fourth episode shall be titled "On Your Marks"

Season 6 Episode 4 - On Your Marks
Air Date: April 9th
Synopsis:

'Now that they've finally received their cutie marks, the Cutie Mark Crusaders struggle with the question of what's next; the friends do not all agree on how to embrace their destinies.

So this looks like the first episode focusing on the Cutie Marks Crusaders since they finally got their cutie marks last season. It seems this episode seeks to answer the question we’ve all had since that momentous event: Now what? And it seems our intrepid CMC are in disagreement as to how to answer that. It’s kind of funny that even though the CMC’s cutie marks are in helping others understand their cutie marks, it seems that here they themselves will have to further clarify what their own destinies are.

This season’s fifth episode shall be titled "Gauntlet of Fire"

Season 6 Episode 5 - Gauntlet of Fire
Air Date: April 16th
Synopsis:

In order to save his friends, Spike is forced to compete in a perilous Gauntlet for the title of Dragon Lord.

Excuse me, Dragon Lord?! Spike is going to be a lord among the dragons or something. Spike’s episodes tend to be a mixed bag. Spike has had some really great episodes like the whole slew of them in Season 4. Episodes like “Power Ponies”, “Inspiration Manifestation”, and “Equestria Games”. But then, there have also been episodes like “Spike At Your Service” and “Princess Spike” where Spike gets handed the Idiot Ball and relegated to some kind of comic relief. This episode sounds more akin to the former than the latter. At least I hope it is. Oddly enough, we haven’t seen much concerning Spike’s nature as a dragon really since Season 2. This episode looks like it’ll change that. I imagine this is the episode that will have to do with this “Dragonlands” featured in the Game of Thrones-style promo I mentioned in my last speculation blog. And I’m very much looking forward to it.

This season’s sixth episode shall be titled "No Second Prances"

Season 6 Episode 6 - No Second Prances
Air Date: April 30th
Synopsis:

None yet.

Yeah, we don’t actually know anything about this one yet, except that it will air on my sister’s birthday. Good for her. Since “Second Prances” rhymes with “second chances”, my guess it’ll be about Starlight Glimmer. But something tells me it could be one of the two Discord episodes we’ll be seeing this season. Or maybe it’ll have both Discord and Starlight Glimmer in it and compare their former villainy and reformations. Sure. Why not? I don't know.

The one thing that concerns me though is that so far none of these episodes mention the Cutie Map. It would seem rather odd if they just forsook the Cutie Map after just one season. I’ve always imagined that the episode teased by the teaser with the swan boat was a Cutie Map episode where Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash are sent to Manehattan, and they have to help Maud Pie or something.

My last point for today concerns a recent development with the new Guardians of Harmony toy line. I think most of us are familiar with Guardians of Harmony, the upcoming line of really cool-looking, action figure-y pony toys.

Well according to Equestria Daily, some enterprising Brony was poking around Hasbro’s trademark for Guardians of Harmony and discovered something interesting. (I don’t know why people are going around poking through trademarks. It causes more trouble than it’s worth.) Apparently, Hasbro has updated its trademark for Guardians of Harmony to include not just toys, but an animated TV series as well. What does this mean? Is there going to be a spin-off based on Guardians of Harmony? Perhaps there will or perhaps there won’t. Let’s look at what we know. The Guardians of Harmony toys feature the ponies we all know and love in a more action-y kind of way. So, I don't think it’ll be like a completely separate spin-off that would air to parallel to FIM. Otherwise they’d introduce a completely new cast of characters to be a part of it. If indeed FIM is coming to an end after Season 6, Guardians of Harmony could be a spin-off sequel series that follows it, just like Hasbro has done Transformers: Robots In Disguise following Transformers Prime. Given what the toys look like, it could be a much more action-adventure driven series. I actually don’t know what to think about that. I mean, I love it when FIM is epic and stuff. However, if the whole series was like that, I think I’d start missing the slice of life stuff. It’s very likely that if FIM does continue beyond Season 6, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Season 7 anytime soon. I imagine Season 6 will take the rest of 2016, and I don’t think we’ll be seeing anything in 2017. It’ll just be reserved for the movie. Guardians of Harmony could be a miniseries that airs in 2017 to tide us over until the movie. Perhaps it could even help set up the movie. I know there aren’t a lot of animated miniseries, but I thought I heard Cartoon Network was considering making another after the success of Over the Garden Wall. Perhaps Hasbro is considering the same thing. These are likely possibilities. But that’s all we have right now. Possibilities.

What do you all think about my speculations concerning the first part of MLP Season 6 as well as Guardians of Harmony? Next time you see me, I’ll be reviewing the the Season 6 premiere “The Crystalling”.

Let us take a moment to remember the people of Brussels, Belgium, and how they’ve suffered at the hands of Islamic extremism today.

God bless you all. God bless America. God bless Equestria. And God bless Brussels, Belgium!

Even if it is low-key, I'm still looking forward to the premiere. Though, I admit what I'm most interested in seeing is Starlight trying to reconnect with Sunburst (that was his name, right?).

Episode 3 looks interesting. It'll be cool seeing an episode focusing on Rarity and Pinkie Pie. It's nice seeing characters who don't normally get enough time to interact getting a story together.

Episode 4 should be very interesting. I hope we get some interesting CMC episodes this season.

Is it just me or does Episode 5's titled seem to be a play on The Goblet of Fire? If there's a literal goblet shooting fire out of it in the episode, the reference will be confirmed. Then again, I may be looking too much into it. Still, I hope it's a good Spike episode. Spike only got one episode last season and it wasn't that good. Let's hope he gets a couple more good episodes this season.

Or maybe Guardians of Harmony is the 2017 movie! :pinkiegasp: I dunno. That would be weird to start advertising a movie like that well over a year and a half before its release. This is an MLP movie we're talking about, not the American presidential campaign :ajsmug:.

It's hard to believe the next season of MLP is just around the corner. Time flies by so quickly nowadays. I'm not complaining. Onwards to more MLP!

I've seen others make the same comment before. I was tempted to bring it up, but I figured I could leave it to the actual review.

Yes, perhaps Guardians of Harmony could be the 2017 movie. Then again, the trademark was specific to animated TV series rather than film. I think that's a distinction they make.
