R.I.P Joe Alaskey · 10:13pm Feb 4th, 2016
The year of death has claimed yet another talented individual, this time in the form of Joe Alaskey, at the age of 63. The cause of death was cancer, according to a family member.
Joe Alaskey was one of several voice actors that took up the mantle of Looney Tunes characters from the late Mel Blanc, starting in 1988 with Yosemite Sam for "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (a year before Mal's death), and even Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. His potrayal of Daffy Duck included the famous tenure of "Duck Dodgers" in the early 21st century, and he also lent his voice to the Tiny Toons character Plucky Duck. However, Alaskey was also the voice of Grandpa Lou Pickles in "Rugrats" and even Mermaid Man for two Spongebob Squarepants video games.
Alaskey's death marks a sad day for Western Animation, as another talented voice actor departs for that great ACME Paradise up above. Alaskey's legacy will live on in the hearts of Looney Tunes fans of all ages.
Oh NO!!! How awful!
He will be missed.
3733374 Tell me about it.
3733604 Indeed he will. "Duck Dodgers" in particular used his talents extraordinarly well.
Anyone but the Wabbit!
This is a real shame. Joe was probably my favorite post-Mel Blanc voice actor for Daffy Duck. I also enjoyed his performance as Plucky Duck on Tiny Toons. Well, at least now he's reunited with Don Messick aka Hamton J. Pig. So long, Mr. Alaskey. You were most definitely not despicable.
3733842 He most certainly wasn't.
