Update and Semi-Unrelated Thoughts · 3:47am Feb 1st, 2016

Or, as the pre-editing-pass version of this blog title said, "Semi-Unrelated Thoughs".

Don't let anyone tell you that writing is always hard or slow. Coming up with titles, though, can easily take ages. Now that I've actually started writing the thing, I'll move onward.

First, I've seen a number of threads on individuals complain about submission and approval times. Apparently, some of them are taking more than one day, and some people aren't happy about it. As much as I'd like to say "So? Get over it." (probably something more verbose with the same meaning) I can't bring myself to do so. Here, however, I'll say that I think the staff on this site are doing a fine job of providing a free service that they don't owe to anybody.

Back to titles. I've finally come up with one for my incoming story. Not only that, I've layered together a cover for it. If you're feeling any bit scared now, you're probably reacting properly.

I could've tied this into CMC:P and tagged the story, but I figure I'll leave this one to the few who actually follow me rather than those who just hit a button on the story. Also, I feel no need to throw my unrelated thoughts to a hundred or so people if they're not interested enough to actually follow me.

The first two chapters are almost complete, totaling ~4.6k words at the moment. I did make a minor goof – details in a moment – that has held up chapter one, though. The first story of this world takes the role of Crusaders of the Lost Mark (which is what inspired all of this), and through some tweaks of my own, I hope will provide a stronger foundation for Diamond Tiara's reformation, and in the end, the acquisition of the Cutie Mark Crusaders' cutie marks. Challenges that have come up reside mostly in characterizing Diamond Tiara's parents, though the aforementioned goof happens to concern their housing. Keeping myself from writing Spoiled Rich as an unforgiving, stuck-up high horse that makes no sense being married to Filthy Rich hasn't been hard, per se, but it's something that I have consciously made note of not to do.

I can't make any promises on when it'll be published, and not because it could spend an 'unreasonable' time waiting for approval. Chapter two still sits with a half-dozen digital scribbles on it, though it's down from where it was a couple of days ago. For now, I'll settle with the appropriately ambiguous time-frame of "soon-ish".

I've also decided that my unimportant author's notes will go in comments below future stories. I like the idea that uninterested users can hit the 'next chapter' button without having to scroll through them. I thought about putting this in the actual blog post, but one should have a good idea as to why I chose not to. :derpytongue2:

This wouldn't happen to be a subtle jab at my whiny blogposts, would it? :rainbowwild:

(Mostly) joking aside, you've got a gift. Thanks for sharing with us!
