Slice of Life vs Adventure · 11:11am Jan 31st, 2016
Alright, so what I've learned from my latest fanfic so far is that I seem to be better at Slice of Life than Adventure stories. I think the reason why is that in my view at least, dialogue is one of my strong points, whereas pacing is one of my not-so-strong points. Slice of Life stories tend to have a lot of talking, and they tend to stay in one place, or just a couple of places, which gives me a chance to slow down the pacing and fit in more descriptive language rather than rushing around.
Don't get me wrong, I still like reading both Slice of Life and Adventure stories, I'm not saying one is better than the other, just personally I find it easier and more enjoyable to write Slice of Life. Also, don't panic, I'm still going to finish My Enemy's Enemy for two reasons, one, I've become really attached to Pupa and Chrysalis as characters and want to see them get a proper finale, and two, over FOUR HUNDRED people have read it, and there's no way I'd ever let my readers down, I am so glad all of you have been reading my story! Just in future I'll probably stick to Slice of Life (and who knows, I might make a Slice of Life sequel to My Enemy's Enemy :3 Though I have 2 other ideas I want to get to first - both involving Trixie :P)
