Finally released! Nyx and the Shadow of Nightmare.

Nyx and the Shadow of Nightmare might just be the last of the original four fics I planned to release when I first joined. You can see the fics I'm talking about in my Classic Chaos section on my user page, with my first four stories in order of release from left to right. The Shadow of Nightmare has some history with me, as I started it three years ago (almost) and had done nothing with it. It was originally going to be part of a series of Nyx stories, starting with Into the Beginning: The Life of Writing Glory, and the story was originally titled, Reflections of Who She Truly Is, which was a midequal to The Life of Writing Glory.

The story was half done too, it dealt with Nyx in her late teens dealing with apparitions of Nightmare Moon, only in it both characters already had a kind of uneasy relationship, with Nyx bickering with her on occasion, and Nightmare trying to be helpful to her, whilst belittling her and being her typical self. In the end, Diamond Tiara was going to reveal Nyx's secret only for Nyx to stop her. This was written before her redemption.

I decided to redo the story, and left it for two years as a result. So, I promised myself that this year, I'd finally start and finish it for the artist of the cover art, Sweeter97, now SweeterWho on deviantart, and I did. For the record, I conceived the second version of the story long before Tears in the Snow's chapter eleven introduced the shade of nightmare. Sadly I couldn't write the first chapter as great as I might've liked, but there's room for improvement. The next chapter I assure you will behave somewhat oddly, closer to my original story with Nightmare Moon restricted to mirrors and tormenting Nyx in her dreams. this is soemthing that was being hinted at subtly in some chapters of Tears in the Snow, yet no one picked up on it. Nightmare wasn't there as often, but before chapter eleven she made very brief appearances as subtly apparitions in reflective surfaces. Re-read the story (excuse my then amateurish writing), you might pick up on it.
