Dear Princess Luna, after the party at Mr. Rich’s estate, a mare named Octavia asked if I would walk her home. It turns out she is a classical musician who plays quite fantastic music, but due to the snobbish attitudes of some of the elites, she has been blackballed from performing despite her considerable talent. I know I rarely ask for direct interference on a pony’s behalf, but if there were any way to pass some work her way subtly, it would really help her out.

Personality: Calm, reserved, and soft-spoken, Octavia could easily pass as the most noble of Canterlot’s elite, but clearly passionate about her mate and her art, Octavia can become loud and defensive when protecting either.
Skills and Quirks:
Classical Musician – According to her transcript, she attended Canterlot University for nearly five full years, taking everything related to musical theory, education, and history.***
Earth pony strength – What more can I say? She hefted an instrument case larger than I am tall to her shoulder and carried it without complaint while we walked to her home.
Highly Educated – Tying back into the above note, she also studied political law, economic theory, and a myriad of other mundane topics. It's good to know about another local with such a broad education.
* - Both pet names given to her by her mate, and she is visibly reluctant about their use in public. It's quite cute, honestly.
** - Also known officially as Vinyl Scratch, a former student at Starswirl University and despised by the elite for her taste in music and willingness to mingle with anypony as equals, regardless of her parents’ social status.

Octavia is one of my favorite characters in the fic despite her short appearance as she was educated, had a great backstory, and is openminded enough to care more about being married to Vinyl than working for a bunch of snobs.
