Dear Princess Luna, the other night I was fortunate enough to encounter an old childhood mentor, the magistrate in charge of Canterlot’s University district. A cheerful and derisive noble who enjoys playing games with the nobles, who rarely understand the full rules in play. Sadly he is getting quite old and will likely step away from the public spotlight soon, so I thought it best to tell you of him while he still remains the vibrant figure I remember pranking even your sister once.

Occupation: Magistrate for Canterlot University district. Many previous occupations including dean of Starswirl University for over 40 years.
Scars or accessories? Many, but for me personally, the most noteworthy is the bruise above his right eye, from when he was bored one day during a test at school and began juggling whatever was on his desk at the time, including, by the end, the hourglass for timing the test. When I pointed that out to him, well, he got distracted and dropped it.
Close relationships: Former mares and the children of those relationships are nearly too numerous to list, however his most recent wife was a classmate of Princess Cadance, so asking her for more details might be more productive.
Personality: A jester at heart, he is kind, polite and noble but with a strong distaste for snobbery and willful ignorance.
Skills and Quirks:
Unicorn Magic Expert – There was a reason he was the dean of Canterlot University for so long. His knowledge and talent with magic was once considered to be on a level unmatched in the last three generations. In recent years he has lost his flare for showing off, but rumors around school said he still dueled annually with Fancy Pants’ father, Ember Grace.
Elder Magistrate – Selected by Princess Celestia herself nearly fifty years ago, he has been a prominent member of the Canterlot Magistrate assembly ever since, and in the last fourteen years he has led the annual Magistrate Meet, as the longest serving magistrate.
* - I suspect he had more as a colt, as I even found records that show he was once a member of the Fool’s Guild!
** - An orphan, his age is an estimate not a fact.
*** - Not his true birthday, but a day he simply decided to be his birthday one day.
**** - Sad, even just fifteen years ago his hair was still a prominent feature he was very proud of, taking great care to care for his thick blue-silver hair.
Guffaw seems like a swell dude as I liked his joking attitude towards the nobles and the teasing he gave to Dusk. Also, I'm surprised that he's 82 and yet still has enough game to hook up with one of Cadence's friends who should be either in her early 30s or late 20s.
