A Wish Which is Crazy on Paper · 4:09am Jan 14th, 2016
I'm sure everyone has had that one question: If you could have one wish, what would it be?
Of course, there are a million different ways to answer this. You could wish for world peace, or you could wish for a decent sandwich. In fact, you can tell a lot about a person by what they would wish for in such a situation.
But what if your wish had to be a double-edged sword. In other words, your wish would be granted, but you had to give up something to get it. What would you wish for then?
I know my answer. It probably sounds crazy, but hear me out. My wish is to be able to draw (and I mean draw well), and I would give up my right arm to do it.
First off, my right arm is expendable in this situation because though I am technically ambidextrous, I can only write, and, by extension, draw, with my left hand. As for typing with one hand, I would simply invest in one of those talk-to-text programs they have. Hell, that might make me create content faster, since I can talk even faster than I can write.
I have always wanted to be able to draw. I enjoy looking at art, and while writing is an art in and of itself, it is not as appreciated as traditional art. If I had the ability to create high-quality drawings or paintings or digital art, I would create so much content. I would make original artwork as covers for all my stories, I would produce comic strips concerning various things, and I would create pieces for my friends.
Unfortunately, I am unable to do any of this. For whatever reason, I have no drawing ability whatsoever. It is probably the one skill that I really want to have. Not to say that I would give up my writing ability for drawing ability, but I would give up a lot to have it.
I know, this whole thing sounds ridiculous, and it is. The chances of me suddenly gaining the ability to draw is the same as me winning the Powerball. But it's certainly something I've thought about before. And there's no harm in dreaming.
